Quietly on an October morning in 2025 ScotGov published a document called 'Non-Surgical Procedures and Functions of Medical Reviewers (Scotland) Bill 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
The Bill makes it an offence to treat patients under the age of 18 years.
The Bill makes it an offence to carry out medical aesthetic procedures which pierce or pe*****te the skin in a setting other than a HIS regulated premises. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
The Bill also restricts the 'type of person' who can perform these procedures. 👩‍🎓
The Scottish Government is clear in its policy to specify that certain non-surgical procedures must be undertaken by a medical or dental practitioner, prescribing nurse or midwife or prescribing pharmacist.
