Therapists need to learn to adapt as much as possible when providing treatments for the face, scalp, neck and shoulders as these areas should only be treated lying in the prone or side-lying position.

At no time should the client's face covering be removed to provide treatment. Treatments should not be provided for the face even when a client is exempt from wearing a face covering.

The face and the breathing area in front of the mouth and nose are considered the high-risk zone and treatments on or in this area, including where a therapist has to lean into it to provide treatment, should not be provided at this time.

The Scottish Government has advised us that the high-risk zone and face coverings for the close contact industry will be reviewed in mid-May. Until this is done, the current guidance stays in place.

😀👉Great news everyone. We have obtained confirmation from ScotGov that ALL close contact can resume on the 26th of April as long as all the necessary requirements are met.

Current restrictions only allow mobile in tier 0 and 1. However, the letter below confirms that mobile is included in the return to work for the 26th of April.

Please note that the letter states that ScotGov will be publishing close contact guidance closer to the time. We have to wait to see what restrictions may still be required such as facials. As soon as we know, we will let you know.
