I spent a lot of my child and adulthood feeling like I was wrong somehow.

Too much.
Too loud.
Too shy.
Too sensitive.
Too emotional.
Too quiet.
Too weird.

It’s funny how you can spend years trying to become someone else, only to realise the goal was never to change yourself. It was to find the places where you belonged.

For me, that was raves, festivals, music, freedom and people who let me exist exactly as I was.

Then it was hairdressing, I wish I wasn’t so scared of everything and followed my dream sooner. But here we are 🤣

I haven’t been to a rave since last July. Life changed. Priorities changed. I’m a mum, a business owner, a grown-up with responsibilities and approximately 47 tabs open in my brain at all times 🤪 I also broke my tailbone at the last rave it was a wake up call I’m still paying for 🤪🤣🤦‍♀️

But that version of me is still there.

And so is the scared little girl.

Most days I can see how far I’ve come.

Some days, like today, I feel a bit like her again.

Maybe healing isn’t becoming someone new.

Maybe it’s learning to hold the hand of every version of yourself and keep moving forward anyway, if you ever felt like you didn’t fit, I feel ya, maybe you were just in the wrong rooms 💜🫶

But in all seriousness… this is exactly why I don’t offer mens cuts as a general rule. Before anyone gets offended and starts typing with sweaty thumbs, it’s not personal 💀

I work from my home salon. I’m a woman. I work alone. My clients are mainly women, mums, neurodivergent babes, anxious babes, LGBTQ+ babes and people who specifically book with me because the space feels safe, calm 🤪 and private. That matters to me more than squeezing every possible appointment into my diary.

Also… I’m not a barber 😭
Could I technically cut men’s hair? Yes.
Do I want random men in my inbox asking for skin fades at 8.47pm on a Sunday? Absolutely the f**k not ✌🏻💜
