“Is that chocolate?” - one of THE most heard phrases in the exhayl studio 😂

I have used raw cacao in my bespoke facials since day dot. The ancient ritual of cacao alone is something sacred and so special, then adding in the antioxidant benefits of cacao on the skin, the fact it fights free radicals, boosts elasticity and hydrates skin, locking in the lipid barrier or acid mantle from further damage and stress.

It’s an absolute no-brainer! 🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫

I blend a number of other natural ingredients in with my cacao, dependent on the client and their skin - each one with further enhancing properties and a scent of their own.

I will not tell you my secret recipes 🤐 as it’s been something I’ve developed continually as a Facialist over the past 7 years, and hopefully one day I can bring them to life as a product of their own - but I know some of you could guess a couple of them!

Cacao ~ hallelujah! ♥️

With the sun shining in and everything in tune energetically, birds joining in with the acoustics too as always. I adore this space.✨♥️

13 wishes of Winter Solstice RITUAL 🔥

I heard about this ancient ritual of ‘13 magical nights’ and my inner woo-woo just couldn’t not.

Here’s how you do it:
• Write down 13 individual wishes, affirmations or manifestations
• Divide each wish up, fold and place in a pot / jar
• Each night starting from tonight - winter solstice - choose a wish at random and surrender it to the earth - burn, bury or throw in water (the Aries in me said it had to be fire)
• It’s important that you don’t look at / read the wish
• On the final 13th night (known as epiphany) open your final wish and read it
• THIS one wish is now yours to behold and your focus for the year ahead, leave the rest up to the stars

Let’s see what shows up ✨ Happy Winter Solstice x

This doesn’t come too comfortably to me but I have to mark the milestone! 🍾
Ten years ago to this day, I qualified as a makeup artist. A new chapter after my first baby and ditching the corporate hustle. I had no idea where any of it would lead. All I knew is I wanted to help people feel better. And it started with bringing joy to the biggest days of their lives.

My business has completely evolved since, training in skin, facials, reflexology, fertility and reiki, honing in on every holistic practice in great depth. I loved being a hair and makeup artist, especially working weddings, there was SO much joy in that. But as I’ve got older, I’m far more interested in what’s beneath the surface. People’s stories, their experiences, the things they carry. The power of touch and in slowing down. The materialistic things don’t matter as much. Beauty is so much more than skin deep.

So I’m taking this moment to celebrate myself, because when you’re self-employed, nobody else does it for you. There’s no company shout-out or bottle of bubbly from the boss 😂 So I’m giving myself that congrats, even if it’s a little self-indulgent.

The recognition I do get though, happens quietly. In treatments, in those unspoken moments, energy shifts and deep sighs of letting things go. To know I’ve held space for someone in however they showed up that day and to know I made a difference. It’s not public, and it doesn’t need to be, but it’s everything.

The shift and evolution of my business came through my own fertility journey. An ectopic pregnancy, further loss and struggles, and many years of trying for a baby - grasping at every holistic, ancient and healing modality I could immerse myself in. I’ve tried it all! That tough, big chapter of my life, led me to what I do now with Exhayl, and on reflection, I do believe everything happens for a reason, even when it REALLY doesn’t feel like it at the time - so when things get tough, because they still do - I consciously try to remind myself of this.

20 photos of summer so far ☀️

1. Apples from the garden, debating trying to make ACV again, procrastinating.

2. Fruit of the moment: raspberries - extra delicious with cream cheese. Definitely putting some raspberry bushes in the garden.

3. Mango greens before breakfast, always. Been taking greens since 2017! & these are definitely my favourite.

4. Buddleia - a love or hate one for sure but it’s giving me some colour in our otherwise pretty blank canvas as I plan what to plant.

5. Two very old apple trees bringing us plenty of treats, one of which will frame the new studio. Spy the base just built here in the background. Now we wait…

6. And a random pear! 🍐

7. If you missed this on stories. The most beautiful cloud shapes against the sunset backdrop.

8. Always a very welcome gift, flowers always brighten up my day - sunflowers from Caitlin + baby Tala loves looking at them too. 🌻

9. She put me through my paces - both her and I were surprised at how much strength I had maintained postpartum! Getting those muscles warned up and wrists in order ready to treat…

10. Tala’s first foods, blessed. 🙏

11. Garden planning, grateful for a huge amount of space, but with that comes decisions!

12. A lot of baking to satisfy kids boredom during the holidays plus a lot of creative joy for us all. GF banana bread was heaven.

13. Playing with Canva as per, this time for exhayl…🌀my brain is spinning with ideas.

14. I hate paint swatches. Why are they never the same colour IRLLLL.

15. Painting the extension has been a chore. Blistered hands, sore arms and patience lost.

16. Gorge neutrals chosen though, dappled sun walls are just my fave thing.

17. The happiest of birthdays, 7 for my big girl.

18. Morning spot for rituals, when time allows.

19. Sunlight, breathwork, pondering, journaling and coffee.

20. Claimed a spot on the kids new swings. After months sifting rubble and cutting back overgrown everything it’s beginning to resemble a real garden to enjoy. 😊
