❗️❗️❗️A message for anyone booking sports massage

Having spent three years working in Ireland alongside some incredibly talented sports massage therapists, I’ve seen first-hand how much knowledge, training and experience goes into properly treating the body.

One thing I’ve noticed, not just in Ireland but in different places I’ve travelled, is the growing number of therapists offering “sports massage” after completing courses in other areas of massage or holistic therapy.

I’ve had clients come to me after spending hundreds on various treatments without getting the results or support they were looking for.

This isn’t about putting other therapists down. It’s about encouraging people to know what they’re paying for.

If you’re booking a therapist, ask about their qualifications and training. If you’re specifically looking for sports massage, make sure the therapist has actually trained in sports massage and understands the assessment, techniques and knowledge required to work safely and effectively with sporting injuries and muscular issues.

A massage qualification doesn’t automatically mean someone is qualified to provide every type of massage therapy.

As therapists, we have a responsibility to be honest about our training and work within our scope of practice. As clients, you have every right to ask questions and make sure you’re getting the right treatment from the right person.

Do your research, ask questions and look after your body. You’re investing your time and money into your health — make sure you’re getting the service you’re paying for.

Just a reminder regarding my cancellation and no-show policy as

I’ve had 4 no-shows since Monday, which means appointments that could have been offered to other clients have gone unused.

I’ve also been told by a couple of people that they “didn’t know” about the policy. The 24-hour cancellation/no-show policy is clearly posted across my accounts and booking information, so please make sure you’re aware of it when booking.

Less than 24 hours’ notice: £35 cancellation fee.
No-show: full price of the booking.

I completely understand that things can come up unexpectedly, but I also have a business to run and my appointment times are reserved specifically for you if you can’t attend just a simple text with notice is all I ask.
