every time i put makeup on someone says âyou donât need itâ and i know they mean well â but i think people misunderstand what makeup is for a lot of us.
sometimes itâs not about hiding.
sometimes itâs not about insecurity.
sometimes itâs not even about beauty.
sometimes itâs healing.
for some people, makeup is the first time theyâve looked in the mirror and actually seen themselves again after trauma, burnout, depression, abuse, grief, dysphoria, motherhood, survival, exhaustion, illness, heartbreak⌠whatever it may be.
it can be ritual. it can be art. it can be control when life feels uncontrollable. it can be softness after spending years in survival mode.
it can be identity. it can be gender affirmation. it can be confidence. it can simply be 20 minutes where your body belongs to you again.
thatâs why i started The Reclaim Room CICďżź â because healing doesnât always look like sitting in a circle talking. sometimes healing looks like glitter. sometimes it looks like eyeliner sharp enough to survive another day. sometimes it looks like finally feeling worthy enough to take care of yourself again.
âu so fkn sexyâ as the audio is funny to me because yes, confidence is attractive. joy is attractive. reclaiming yourself is attractive. watching someone slowly come back to life in front of the mirror is attractive.
makeup didnât save my life.
but reconnecting to myself did.
and makeup became part of that journey đ¤

1:1 makeup lesson today â¨
we focused on eyes, but the real transformation was the confidence.
if youâve ever felt like makeup âisnât for youâ⌠itâs not that, you just havenât been supported properly yet đ¤
things that terrify me as someone with agoraphobia⌠but iâll still show up.
because fear doesnât get to decide my life.
and what iâm building matters more.
if youâre struggling with anxiety, this is your reminder â you can be scared and still do it anyway.

Weâre sometimes asked why we donât share before & after photos of the people we work with.
And honestly â itâs a fair question.
Before & afters are everywhere in the beauty world. Theyâre powerful. They show transformation. They tell a story at a glance.
But hereâs why we donât do them (right now) âŹď¸
At The Reclaim Room, we work with vulnerable people.
People who may be escaping abuse.
People rebuilding their identity after trauma.
People who deserve control, safety, and dignity above all else.
For some, a photo â even a âpositiveâ one â can:
⢠put them at risk
⢠remove anonymity they rely on
⢠trigger feelings of shame or comparison
⢠freeze a moment they didnât ask to have shared forever
We never want someoneâs healing to become content.
We never want confidence to come with conditions.
And we never want support to feel transactional.
Our work is about choice, agency, and consent â not just in theory, but in practice.
⨠That said â this isnât a hard âneverâ.
In the future, if we can do it safely, ethically, and fully led by the person themselves, weâre open to that conversation.
But right now, our priority is protecting the people who trust us.
So instead of before & afters, we focus on:
đŹ stories (shared willingly and safely)
đ¨ creativity
đ¤ confidence building
đą the process, not the performance
Healing doesnât always need to be visible to be real.
Thank you for understanding â and for being part of a community that values people over proof.
