The newborn baby smell that turns you into a head-sniffing addict. 👀
�Did you know that there has been a study which showed that sniffing babies’ heads activates the reward centres of their mothers’ brains?

The theory is that the smell and the sniffing contribute to bonding between the baby and parent.��This is one of many reasons why the Natural Instincts organic baby balm does not contain any fragrance. We don’t want anything coming between you and that glorious baby smell.

If you’ve been following me for a while now you’ll know that I’m against the whole BUY THIS FOR YOUR BABY- YOU NEED IT kinda vibe.
�In honesty, with a newborn baby, in most cases it’s more beneficial to leave the vernix coating on baby for as long as possible and to hold the baths for a while to allow the natural coating to protect baby’s new skin.�
For this reason, we often find that we don’t need/want to be splashing lotions and potions all over a newborn’s skin.��The baby balm is just there in case you do have any kind of irritation or as a thin breathable (this is important!) barrier cream in the nappy area.

Can you see the red, flaky skin below my youngest's bottom lip?

👄 We're going through a stage of lip licking 😐 Then the skin feels dry/strange so she licks it again and then starts a cycle of licking and irritation. My eldest did this too- I imagine its fairly common.

I use the baby balm on it and within a couple of days the skin is completely back to normal.

🌿 The calendula in the balm is super soothing to the skin and the plant oils and beeswax make a breathable barrier on the skin so that the skin can't be directly licked while it heals. Because of the ingredients, there are no worries if your baby, child, partner licks it- it's technically edible though I wouldn't advise spreading it on your sandwich.

🚫 No fragrance or preservatives added meaning less chance of irritating already inflamed skin.
