We’re thrilled to share that Gini Mitchell, founder of wild_with_wheels and a valued partner on our Putting Down Routes project, has been appointed as a Disability and Access Ambassador for the Countryside on behalf of the Government’s Disability Unit, which is part of the Cabinet Office.

Gini’s incredible work has made a significant difference to making the Downs National Landscape and North Downs Way more inclusive and accessible for all—breaking down barriers and opening up nature to more people.

A truly well-deserved recognition of her passion, lived experience, and impact.

☀️ With the UK in the middle of a record-breaking May heatwave, here's what mobility scooter users need to know.

The heat brings a few extra things to think about before heading out on your scooter:

✅ Carry water and drink regularly
✅ Wear loose, light-coloured clothing and sun cream
✅ If possible, go out early or late to avoid the peak heat
✅ Stick to shaded routes where you can
✅ Monitor the battery for overheating
✅ Store your scooter in the shade or indoors when not in use

I'm back home from taking my 50at50 mission to Kent, and whilst the heat nearly took me out of action twice, I still achieved what I set out to do.
