A week ago today on the 6th October I did the Ironman in Barcelona and became an. “ironman” 🤣
It Was a goal I had on my bucket list for sometime, not to win it or break any records but to finish and that I did. 🤣

Never assume when you take on these huge things that you are the only one getting yourself through it.
I had the most amazing support crew with me and at home from start to finish, yes you put all the training in, early morning runs, long rides, late evening swims but when it comes to the day, without those beside you cheering you on, pushing you on, constantly telling you you got this , it gets very lonely, very mental and physically tough.
Yes I would have finished on Sunday coz I don’t give up, 🤣🤣
would have of finished with the Ironman title 🤔 definitely not!
Without Gary, Aron and Sophie keeping an eye on my time, telling what I needed to hear, telling me to push and push harder even when I was pushing the hardest I’ve ever pushed, through the pain in my back, and looking like Quasimodo !!, I’d of missed the cut off, as I got closer to the finish I could hear the announcement
“2 minutes of the official cut off time remaining “
I had a Marshall on a bike who had been with me for the last 5k , he was in constant radio contact with the finish line so they knew where I was.
As I came round the last bit towards the finish chute again I heard,
“90 secs of the official time left”
Then I thought omg I have to run,trott anything, was hardly a run 🤣
I tripped 🤦‍♀️ but didn’t fall, thankfully, and went for it ! Trotting down the finish line 🤣
32 secs to spare as I finally crossed the line , to the words
“Abi Thompsett you are an Ironman”
“You can’t get any closer than that “
I literally collapsed into Gary who had volted the barrier along with Aron and Sophie!
At least they didn’t shout here comes Quasimodo, I was really bent over. 🤣🤣
Never felt so relieved to finish.
The commentator came over and said “32 seconds longer and I would NOT of said you are an ironman!!
