Frustrating update 😩
📣 Latest update from Scotland
Hairdressers and barbers in Scotland can open on an appointment-only basis from Monday, 5 April 2021, the Scottish Government announced this afternoon.
All shops (including salons) can offer click and collect-by-appointment retail services from Monday, 5 April 2021.
Beauty salons and mobile hair and beauty services cannot open yet. A further announcement is expected on 20 April 2021.
The Scottish Government has updated its guidance for close contact services.

📣 Scotland: timetable for lifting lockdown
On 16 March 2021, the Scottish Government announced that hairdressers and barbershops may be able to reopen on 5 April 2021 by appointment only. This will not apply to mobile businesses.
Close contact services including beauty salons and mobile businesses may be able to reopen on 26 April 2021.
The Scottish Government has not yet updated its guidelines for close contact services or stated exactly which services/treatments can be offered from 5 April. We will provide an update when we have more information.
These reopening dates are not definite but will depend on how well the pandemic is being contained in Scotland.

📣 Latest News from Scotland
First minister Nicola Sturgeon has announced that from 0:01 Tuesday 5 January, mainland Scotland will move from Level 4 to a temporary Lockdown. This means that all close contact services in mainland Scotland will remain closed.
The restrictions are expected to last until February, but will be reviewed later this month.
The following islands will remain at Level 3 and therefore close contact services are still able to operate (including mobile hairdressers and barbers):
• Orkney
• Shetland
• Na h-Eileanan Siar (Western Isles)
• The following islands within Argyll and Bute: Coll, Colonsay, Erraid, Gometra, Iona, Islay, Jura, Mull, Oronsay, Tiree, and Ulva
• All islands in Highland, with the exception of Skye.

As part of the campaign, we are encouraging you to write to your local MP to call on the Government to support the beauty, aesthetics, spa and wellbeing industry.
We need MPs to help get a timeline for when face treatments can resume and financial support for those affected by restrictions on treatments.
