WOW,what a season as far as the league goes.

CHAMPIONS!

As the manager I would just like to say on behalf of my staff and I it’s been an absolute pleasure to work with the boys this season and at last get some silverware.

I’m extremely proud of what they have achieved so far this season as it’s took not only good football and good results but a real change in mentality,something we maybe lacked a few seasons ago when we were last in the Championship.
On route to winning the title we hit a few bumps on the way but the reaction in following games was pivotal. MENTALITY. I could wax lyrical about how good it’s been and go on and on but what I will say is the game away to Whitehills 3 weeks or so ago was the turning point and then I saw how much the boys wanted it. Being down 2-0 at HT wasn’t in the script,take nothing away from Whitehills though,they were excellent that night at times especially going forward,but HT substitutions,a wee talk at HT and a really hardworking never say die attitude in the second half after going down 3-1 was when I saw how much they weren’t giving up on winning this title. And I believe that’s how we won it.

I’m a very proud manager at this moment as are my staff and these boys deserve it big time. To win it on our 50th anniversary too means even more and that’s for the Chairman. He’s been here a long time and it’s been 16yr since we last won the league so he’s as much a part of it as the rest of us. Purvey too,Mr Statto has been here as long as the club!
Also big thank you to our extended staff who run the hospitality and shop and our treasurer too. Big thank you to all our sponsors as well and our fans,their support as always is greatly appreciated.

Still one more game next week so hopefully fingers crossed we can do the double but I’m sure HRU will doing their best to win the cup as well.

Going in goalless at half time the boys only had 45 to seal the deal. But 3 huge goals after half time clinched the title with one game to spare. An amazing strike from Aiden Robertson took us 1-0 up, a second from Jack Sutherland & a great header from Arnie made it 3!
