It’s almost Halloween which means it’s pumpkin carving time!! 🎃

Last year I’ve carved my first ever pumpkin and found the process to be so incredibly meditative. It felt even more special to express creatively and carve a little grass snake that crossed my path what seemed out of nowhere (I nearly stepped on it!), just a few days prior to Samhain. And if I reflect on last year, it was certainly a year of shedding my skin and figuring out who I truly am.

This year my pumpkin is dedicated to a barn owl that landed on our roof a couple of nights ago and kept us awake for a while. After an hour of loud and intense screeching everything went incredibly quiet, but only for a moment. Just moments later we heard a distant rumbling sound, getting closer and closer to us. That night we experienced one of the craziest thunderstorms…

It’s such a humbling experience to have animal messengers show up on my path at this time of year. Their messages always feel so potent. I wonder what the owl was warning me about? I certainly feel big ground-shaking changes approaching.

Hello everyone! I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything NettleBear related on here. The reason is - I have been slowly tinkering away in the background at making some changes here, simplifying and rebranding this business! 😁

When I first reached out to I had so many ideas that I wanted to incorporate into the new look of NettleBear and very little clue on how to bring it together. Gaelon not only made it possible, but he took my vision and birthed it into a piece of art which truly represents who I am and what my business stand for. Needless to say, I love it so so much! ❤️

9 years walking this earthly journey with this shiny spark of a man. Many hard lessons learned and many more beautiful ones experienced… we have grown so much together and I wouldn’t change a thing. I love you ❤️

I have reopened my Etsy shop this week despite Etsy ignoring the strike against yet another fee increase. It is a temporary move for my offerings as I am creating a new platform, a shop with no hidden fees for me and my customers.

Thank you so much for your support in this. I feel like we have achieved a lot with this strike even though it feels like nothing has changed. We have certainly exposed the boundless greed of this platform which has been a home to and a main monetary source for many small businesses for years. I keep coming back to writing this post and deleting it, over and over again. The truth is I have no words for the current situation in Ukraine, it touches a very raw and painful part in me, a generational trauma that’s still very prevalent in me and majority of Lithuanians.

My home country has suffered multiple occupations. In the 19th century Russia banned my people from speaking their own language. Thousands of books were burned and people who tried to preserve and distribute them were executed. Thanks to some incredibly courageous book smugglers who survived, our language is still alive today.

After a very short-lived period of freedom, during the Second World War Lithuania alongside other Baltic states was occupied by Soviet Russia. My parents and grandparents have grown up under U.S.S.R. rules. I grew up with the stories which seemed so strange and surreal to me and I’m sure people born in this day would struggle to believe life as it was then. I consider myself very lucky to be born just months after Lithuania regained its independence in 1991.

It pains me greatly to see Ukraine under a threat of loosing their independence. I am sending all my prayers to those affected. My heart is there with each and everyone of you and I am holding my light and visualising freedom for every soul ❤️🙏🏼❤️

January started a little rough for me. I felt incredibly uninspired and felt like life was trying to slow me down. So many conflicting thoughts about my craft raced through my head and the sense of overwhelming responsibility depleted me. I wasn’t ready to jump back in to the creative flow with NettleBear, and when I decided to try, the worldspread virus hit me. I lost my sense of taste and smell which meant I could not work on anything new. I was honestly a little scared and wasn’t sure how I would pull through. I’m still recovering from my sensory loss which means I can’t work with my plant allies, however, universe provided me with very unexpected and different kind of creative flow for which I am beyond grateful!

I met a woman who commissioned me to knit and recreate a poncho which she loves so dearly. It was such a beautiful opportunity to get back to knitting which was such a big part of my life for over a decade. For those who don’t know, I have been designing and trading with various knitted garments for years before I was interested in herbal medicine. So this was a HUGE opportunity for me!

As soon as I finished the poncho (you can follow my knitting journey on ) I was commissioned to knit 4 more! To my surprise, a few days later I sold my own designed and hand knitted cardigan (swipe to see it 🙂). I can’t tell you how much this has blown my mind! Universe certainly works in mysterious ways and I’m incredibly grateful for it bringing this beloved craft back into my life. I feel so in the flow with this at the moment I keep pinching myself to see if all of this is real!

What this means for NettleBear… I am trying to simplify my workflow and have decided to rebrand and add little tweaks and changes to my products. I am also very slowly building my own website which will contain all my crafts in one place!

The lesson I’m taking from this is that sometimes it’s good to take a step back before you can make a giant leap forward! 🙂🤸🏽‍♂️✨🌈🔥

Imbolc is just around the corner and I can feel spring energies coursing through my veins. So far this year I’ve felt like a seed buried deep within the cold and dark soil - laying dormant and contemplating life. So much restructuring of my own life and NettleBear is happening within but not quite in the physical world yet.

Tomorrow’s Imbolc energies are coinciding with the New Moon and I can feel slow but powerful germination process unfolding within me. I have finally decided to reopen my Etsy shop. I also have something very exciting for you all tomorrow as I wanted to start this new chapter on the right foot. Thank you so much for all your patience and for all the messages asking me about reopening of my shop. I am truly humbled to have such a beautiful support circle around me!! ❤️

Warmest Winter Solstice blessings to you all ✨🌲✨

I made this medicine wheel as an offering to Mother Earth for all the healing and acceptance she so openly offers me on a daily basis. It is also a reminder to myself of how far I have come, how brave I’ve been. This year was probably the hardest year of my life. I’ve never worked so hard but also never been so proud of my capabilities, persistence and strength to endure. I didn’t run away this time but tried to accept everything with trust and open arms. I feel like I’ve built such a strong foundation for my life that is yet to unfold! I’m excited and humbled to see what comes next 🙂 just reflecting on it all brings me goosebumps.

There’s a really strong pull to go inward and explore the parts of ourselves that have been forgotten throughout the year. This darkest time truly calls for introspection, slowing down and some meaningful hibernation. I hope you all can get some well-deserved rest before the new chapter of spring begins.
