The London Evening Standard is doing an article featuring us. Rose Beer, the journalist, asked “Tell me why is Foundry different to other skincare and beauty brands?”. Here’s what I said...

• Well, to start with Foundry is not a ‘brand’, it is a formulating house and, almost uniquely in the UK, we design and make all our own products. We do live in an age of ‘beauty brands’, but apart from packaging and brand stories they don’t actually make anything - their products are designed and made by contract manufacturers. I find people are often very surprised when they learn that. There are one or two other companies who work like we do - but it is rare in the UK.

• We combine serious lab materials with wild-crafted ingredients that we gather from the countryside around us. We call this approach ‘Wild Science’. This gives us both a technical edge that small companies traditionally struggle to achieve, and a small-batch, wild-crafted edge that big companies simply can’t access and certainly can’t scale.

• We use extravagant natural fragrance materials in some of our most ‘pedestrian’ products. If you want a hand wash containing real Blackcurrant Bud Absolute or Organic Melissa EO, we can help.

• We do Hero products - not Hero ingredients. Our products solve problems, address needs and aim to be as complete as possible - they aren’t there to sell you an ingredient or two.

• We use most ingredients somewhere around their clinically tested max levels, and we routinely use upwards of 5 times more actives than most mass market luxury serums.

DESIGNING OUR SEA MINERAL WASH FORMULA

Our Sea Mineral wash is a modern solution to an old problem - how to clean your skin without messing it up. It is an advanced formula to cleanse your skin in a gently, sustainable and healthy way, alleviating and preventing the development of sensitivity and irritated skin conditions.

Modern skincare is quite an advanced science but bizarrely when it comes to washes and soaps we are stuck in the past. Normal washes are surfactant heavy with a bad pH - they can strip your skin bare, causing irritation, leaving it open to microbial invasion, drying it out, worsening acne, exacerbating and even causing dermatitis.

Our SEA MINERAL FORMULA uses modern knowledge about the microbiome, acid mantle and need to alleviate the stripping effects of surfactants, whilst balancing the obvious need to clean your skin (gently).

Our Sea Mineral Formula is a blend of carefully chosen plant-derived surfactants, designed to give a dense velvet foam, heavy hand feel and gentle effective cleansing power.

We added
- Epsom Salt to alleviate irritated and inflamed skin.
- And Himalayan Salt, which also brings over 50 trace minerals.
- And Dead Sea Salt as another source of beneficial minerals, used for almost ever to soothe itchy, dry, red skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis.

All surfactants remove oil from your skin. So we chose a specific balance of gentle and effective surfactants along with a lot of glycerin to reduce this effect and to hold water back within the skin.

Perhaps most important - *it is pH balanced* - to maintain the natural acid balance of your skin. This protects its microbiome and protective acid mantle which is a vital defence mechanism that most other wash products destroy.

TONERS

Our Toners are entirely natural, organic, vegan, wild-crafted. Made in small batches these unique seasonal products could only be produced by small specialist companies like Foundry.

- Promotes cell turnover (AHAs, BHAs & Lactic Acid)
- Healing and Conditioning (Peptides)
- Moisturising (Saccharides)
- Strengthens and balances your skin’s Microbiome.

Lactic Acid bacteria create a low acid environment where many species of helpful, skin-friendly bacteria can thrive. When the process reaches the correct stage, we transform the ferment into a Lysate (using natural enzymes) releasing a powerhouse cocktail of metabolites, which are fantastic for your skin.

Spring Blossom Toner

With delicate apple, elder and hawthorn blossoms to vibrant spring flowers from the field and woods, this toner captures the quintessence of Spring in a bottle.

A moisturising, conditioning toner with spring blossom extracts. • For sensitive or easily irritated skin • Supports skin microbiome • Rich in peptides, polyphenols, flavonoids, antioxidants and metabolites

A seasonal, wild-crafted toner made from organic, hand-gathered flowers and botanicals foraged from the Somerset woods, hedgerows and fields during April and May. We meticulously transform the various flowers into a range of botanical extracts, ferments and lysates which we use to make a moisturising, conditioning, healing, revivifying toner which is Organic, 100% natural and Vegan. Contains no alcohol or Witch Hazel.

We get a lot of love for our beautiful glass bottles but not everyone wants glass in the shower, so our shower products are also available in recyclable 500ml and 250ml PET bottles.

Leaf, Twig & Zest was the first body wash we made. A beautiful bright, clean, floral mix of three types of Orange, with leafy Egyptian Geranium and a rosy, round, balsamic Bourbon Geranium. This is a very popular scent especially with children. Leaf, Twig & Zest is also available as a Room Spray - perfect for bathrooms and children’s bedrooms.

On the right is our Root, Leaf & Zest body wash in a small bathroom/travel size. This is our best-selling fragrance - a vibrant, woody, citrus fragrance with a heart of Javanese Vetivert.
