Since our move in June life has been full of new challenges. Today Team Wilde celebrates our first Canadian Thanksgiving!πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ We keep in our thoughts those who cannot be with family or dear friends for any reason and are hugely grateful for the love around this table. Chapter 3 is off to a very happy start πŸ€—

Two years, four months and twenty two days ago, my gorgeous husband set out for work on his motorcycle, was involved in an accident and sustained a severe traumatic brain injury; he didn’t come home for 4 months. The journey from then to today has been immense. Suffice to say that life looks very different now and Grant will not be able to work as a doctor again but this morning he did go back to work… The first step on the ladder, pursuing a long held passion for all things coffee-related, he started a placement in a roastery. I have rarely seen such a smile on his face as when he set out. Sheer determination, sheer grind has got him here! Tonight we raise a (decaf!) coffee cup to neuroplasticity, and to love.

Team W is thrilled to have been given the opportunity to share a little bit more of our story of hope and determination. Published this month in Beeline, the magazine of Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, this is one of many ways in which we plan to increase awareness of the powers of the Integrative Medicine approach to healing and wellness. Grant’s incredible and ongoing recovery journey is due to so many factors, starting with the basics: sleep, nutrition, exercise, stress management and positive relationships. Whatever our individual challenges, and at all stages in our lives, these foundations remain the keys to success.πŸ’–πŸ™πŸ’–

We are back!! In the 2 years since our last post life has changed beyond recognition for the world and in our tiny corner of it we have been focusing on recovery and personal growth. My amazing husband has exceeded the expectations of his specialists in his recovery from a severe traumatic brain injury, and we have both walked through fire but have come out together, stronger than ever. We couldn’t have done this without the enormous support of our family, friends and rehab team so today we want to thank them wholeheartedly. There is plenty more in the bag for Team W and we look forward to continuing to support others as we move ahead. Watch this space for the evolution of Dr Wilde Ltd. πŸŒˆπŸ’—πŸ™πŸ’ͺ🏻

This is one of the most comprehensive and compelling books I’ve ever read; Matthew Walker explains and reinforces why working on good quality sleep πŸ› 😴 is one of the foundational elements of any health plan. Cleaning up my own sleep hygiene has been transformative for my energy levels, immune system, hormone balance and cognitive function. Winstone 😻 is ably demonstrating that team Wilde really does try to practice what it preaches!

Such a privilege to have had the opportunity to hear Dr Dale Bredesen speaking in person yesterday about his pioneering work on the prevention and reversal of cognitive decline. Also delighted to have had the chance to speak to him in person and to meet up with fellow Functional and Integrative Practitioners who feel similarly passionate about this rapidly advancing area of healthcare. .garden

CFC is thrilled to welcome a new addition to our team, Sister Jo Clark, who is now working in collaboration with us as our Practice Nurse and Functional Medicine Health and Nutrition Coach. Jo successfully manages her own chronic health condition and is an active mum of two thanks to the foundational principles of Functional Medicine. In addition, her military nursing background, training in personal-development strategies and nutrition make Jo ideally placed to deliver empathic, practical and motivational support to our patients on their journeys to optimal health and wellbeing.

Collaborating with Jo enables CFC to provide one of the first Functional Medicine Nurse/Coach led strategies in the UK, implementing the critical concept of patient investment in their own care plan with targeted goal setting and ongoing one-to-one, personalised support. We are very excited to have you with us, Jo! πŸ˜ƒ
