December is always my busiest month, so appointments will be limited once they're gone.

💅 GEL NAILS HAVE NOT BEEN BANNED 💅

You may have seen some worrying headlines recently about changes to gel nail products, so I wanted to clear up any confusion for my clients.

Gel nails themselves are NOT being banned.
The new regulations relate to an ingredient called TPO, which is found in some gel nail products — not all of them.

From 15th August 2026, new cosmetic products containing TPO can no longer be placed on the market in Great Britain. There is then a transition period, with further restrictions coming into effect from 14th February 2027.

Brands are already reformulating and replacing affected products to meet the new regulations.
Most importantly, the change in regulations doesn't mean that gel manicures you've previously had were suddenly unsafe or caused harm. It is a change to the regulatory classification of a particular ingredient and what products can be sold and supplied going forward.

As a professional nail technician, I will continue to follow the latest regulations and product guidance and make any necessary changes to the products I use.
