Fine line tattoos can respond really well to laser removal as they often contain less ink than heavily saturated tattoos.

The laser breaks the tattoo pigment into tiny particles, which your body gradually clears over a period of time. Multiple sessions are usually needed, with results depending on the ink, depth, location and your individual response.

Patience is key… If you have a treatment today, you won’t see the full effect of that treatment until 6-8 weeks time. Fading happens in between each treatment x

Did you know your skin type plays an important role in how we plan your Laser or IPL treatment?

The Fitzpatrick Skin Type Scale classifies skin into Types I–VI based largely on how your skin responds to UV exposure, particularly how easily you burn or tan.

But why does this matter for Laser & IPL?

Laser and IPL treatments use light energy, and melanin (pigment) absorbs certain wavelengths of that light. This means your natural skin pigmentation needs to be considered carefully when choosing the appropriate treatment and settings.

Knowing your Fitzpatrick skin type helps us too;

- Assess whether a treatment is suitable for your skin
- Select appropriate treatment parameters
- Reduce the risk of burns and unwanted pigmentation changes
- Plan a safer, more personalised treatment
- Understand how your skin may respond following treatment

Your Fitzpatrick type isn’t determined simply by looking at how light or dark your skin appears.

We’ll ask questions about your natural colouring, tanning habits and how your skin reacts to sun exposure as part of your consultation.

Recent tanning matters too.
Even if we already know your Fitzpatrick type, a recent tan or significant sun exposure can change how safely we can treat your skin. You must always tell us about recent sun exposure, tanning or fake tan before your appointment.
