Ageing around the neck isn’t just about wrinkles. We also lose collagen, elasticity and structural support over time, which can lead to loose, sagging skin and changes in jawline definition. Depending on the degree of laxity, there are different treatment options.

Energy-based devices can help improve skin firmness and tightening, while more significant sagging may benefit from a surgical neck lift. But whatever route you choose, improving and maintaining your skin quality should always be a priority.

Even if you’re considering surgery, healthier skin is worth investing in. You don’t have to wait until the changes become obvious to start looking after your neck. Just as you invest in your facial skin, give your neck the same attention!

I sometimes hear patients say, “I had Botox done by another practitioner years ago, and the results were amazing. Why can’t I get the same result now?”

But here’s something to remember. Your face isn’t the same as it was 10 years ago! It’s not just your skin that’s ageing. Your bones, fat pads, muscles and ligaments all undergo changes over time, and the support around your eyebrows and forehead may be different now.

So even if we use exactly the same product, dose and injection points, we may not get the same result you had years ago.

That’s why I always assess the face as it is today, rather than trying to recreate a result from 10 years ago. Sometimes we need to adjust our approach, and sometimes we need to be realistic about what anti-wrinkle injections alone can achieve.

The word filler can sometimes make people nervous because they immediately think of adding volume or making the face look bigger or heavier. But filler doesn’t have to mean “filling” the face.

When it’s carefully planned and placed in the right areas, it can restore support, improve proportions and create an overall more lifted and balanced appearance. In some faces, strategic placement can even give the illusion of a slimmer, more defined face rather than a heavier one.

The key is not how much filler we use, but where we place it, why we’re using it and whether you actually need it in the first place. A good treatment plan should always be tailored to your individual facial structure.
