“Lady May”

When I (Kyle) opened the shop 5 years ago, this lovely lady opened the door, walked in, sat herself down on the waiting bench and asked how things were going, after a nice wee chat she said the shop had been her old hairdresser & she like to pop in for a natter and would I mind her continuing that, of course I didn’t!

Fast forward these five & a bit years and this gem of a woman (in her 90’s!) pops in every single day to ask how we are, catch up, bring us gifts and chat to our regular clients who she has also befriended over the years…then…she heads down the street and does a full days graft in a local charity shop🤯

We’ve taken her on our Christmas nights out, carried her shopping up her stairs and made her cups of tea (when she’ll let us!) but she’s never accepted a haircut off us…until today!

Well done Chrissy ( Christopher Millar ) you’ve obviously made an impression on our May…or as we like to call her, “the Gaffer”.

Thank you to every one of our clients & team members over these past years, you’ve helped make our shop what it is, a welcoming, positive environment where people can catch up, relax, enjoy some coffee, good music & leave feeling better about themselves…that’s a powerful thing & we’ll always be grateful to all those who choose our shop as their spot 🙏🏼

We were deeply saddened to hear about the fire on Union street last night and the loss experienced by several businesses in our community. Our thoughts are with the owners, staff, and families affected during this difficult time.

From all of us at 𝖆𝖒𝖔, we send our sincere support and solidarity in the rebuilding ahead.

We are a small shop in the East end of the city in Dennistoun, but can accommodate a barber or two if anyone is struggling to find a place to work from until new premises are found, I can also offer my tools to use until someone can afford new ones.

I’m a Firefighter with the and also owner of so unfortunately I know first hand the devastation that fire can cause in people’s lives, but this city is a special one, terrible disasters have happened before and the community have rallied with support & we’ve seen the re-growth time and time again.

It’s encouraging to see so many business in our industry and others offer support like this and if anyone needs it, or anything else, please don’t hesitate to reach out and ask for it!

As we close out another year, we just want to say thank you!

Whether you’ve been with us from the start or walked through the door for the first time this year, your support means everything to us. This shop exists because of the people who sit in the chairs, have the chats, trust us with their hair, and keep coming back. We don’t take that lightly.

Going into 2026, we do need to be transparent about a small price increase (price list on second slide).

Like everyone, we’re facing significant rises across the board; business rates, utilities, booking systems, insurance, communications and the cost of the products we use every single day have all increased significantly over the last 18 months.

We know first-hand that these increases are hitting everyone’s lives, and we fully understand how frustrating and unfair that can feel, however at the same time, we can’t continue to absorb all of those costs ourselves without it starting to affect the people who work here and the quality of what we offer.

Protecting fair wages, a sustainable shop, and the standard you expect means this change is necessary.

We truly appreciate your loyalty, and your continued support & do not take it for granted, we’re committed to continuing to give you the same great service, care and consistency you’ve come to expect now and into the years ahead and thank you for your understanding.
