One of the biggest questions we get about electrolysis is why you need more than one appointment if electrolysis permanently destroys the hair follicle.

The answer is all about the hair growth cycle! 🔄

Your hairs aren’t all growing at the same time. At any given moment, some hairs are actively growing, while others are resting or shedding. Electrolysis is most effective when the hair is in the right stage of its growth cycle.

That means we can’t treat every follicle at exactly the same point in its cycle during one appointment.

✨ So what happens?

At each appointment, we treat the hairs that are ready to be treated. As different hairs enter the active growth stage, they become visible and can be treated at your following appointments.

Over time, with consistent treatments, we work through the hairs cycle by cycle until we have treated the follicles in the area.

⚡ This is why consistency is so important!

Electrolysis is a process, not a one-off treatment. The number of sessions you need can vary depending on the area, amount of hair, previous hair removal methods, hair growth patterns and how long you’ve been experiencing the growth.

💡 And remember:
Seeing hairs appear between appointments does NOT necessarily mean the treatment hasn’t worked. It can simply be hairs that weren’t ready to be treated during your previous session.
