Did you know there are different ways to deliver laser hair removal? 👀

When I first trained, I was taught the sweeping method — moving the handpiece continuously over an area and making multiple passes.

Since doing further laser training, I've completely changed the way I treat.

I now use the stamp method, treating one section at a time so ALL the energy is focused on that specific area, rather than sweeping back and forth and spreading the energy across the skin. This gives me much more control and precision and, ultimately, better results for you.

I now cool the skin. Before my further training, I didn't use ice before or after treatment. I do now — because I've learnt how important cooling is in helping to protect the epidermis when delivering laser energy. 🧊

So there's much more to laser hair removal than simply using a laser.

I assess your skin and hair, use a controlled stamping technique, cool the skin before AND after treatment, and typically leave 12 weeks between body sessions to allow the hair and follicles to progress through the appropriate stage of the growth cycle. The face is the exception.

I've also moved away from treatment blocks and now offer individual laser sessions, with payment plans available.

So if you're already having laser hair removal — does your practitioner do these things?

Don't just ask what machine they use. Ask how they're treating you, why they've chosen that technique and how they're protecting your skin.

Because who you choose to treat your skin matters. 🧡

A little look at her pigmentation journey ✨

These photos show the progress after two treatments — including what her skin looked like in the days following her first session.

Head to my grid for the full post where I explain why pigmentation can look darker before it starts to fade, and why treatment isn't always a one-and-done.

“Why did her pigmentation get darker after treatment?” 👀

This is something I think is really important to show when talking about pigmentation removal — because the skin doesn't always look better immediately after treatment.

This client came to me with a deeper area of facial pigmentation that she wanted to reduce.

The first photo shows her skin before treatment.

The second shows her skin immediately after, where you can see some redness.

And then there's the photo three - four days after treatment…

The pigmentation has become darker and is starting to flake.

That is part of the treatment process when targeting certain types of pigmentation. The treated pigment can initially become more noticeable before the skin naturally sheds and the area begins to lighten.

Then you can see her progress after two treatments. ✨

The number of treatments needed varies depending on the individual, the pigmentation being treated and how the skin responds.

And she's not finished her journey yet.

We've currently paused her treatments due to medication and an up and coming holiday. Rather than rushing her next treatment, we'll wait until the timing is right and reassess her skin before continuing.

Skin safety always comes first. 🧡

If pigmentation is something you'd like to have assessed, your journey starts with a consultation. I'll look at your skin, discuss your concerns, carry out a patch test and determine whether treatment is suitable for you.

Acne in your 50s? You're definitely not alone. 🧡

This client came to me at 52 with acne-prone skin that had become a real concern around menopause.

We started a course of my Acne Treatment, combining:

✨ Carbon laser treatment
✨ IPL using acne-specific settings
✨ Blue LED light
✨ Cooling and soothing aftercare

The aim is to target acne-prone skin while helping to calm the appearance of redness, inflammation and breakouts.

The photos at the end show her skin after three treatments.

And there's an important bit of context here…
There was a longer gap between treatments 1 and 2 because she went on holiday in the sun, so we delayed her next treatment rather than rushing it.

Since returning, she's been coming every 3 weeks, and we're continuing to monitor how her skin responds.

You can already see that her skin is looking calmer, with less visible inflammation and fewer breakouts compared with where she started.

But three treatments isn't necessarily the end of the journey.

The number of treatments needed can vary from person to person depending on the skin, the severity of the concern and how it responds to treatment.

For this client, we may continue to six sessions, but we'll make that decision based on how her skin progresses.

That's why I don't believe in promising a set number of treatments or taking a one-size-fits-all approach.
Your skin comes first.

A consultation is required before treatment so I can assess your skin, discuss your concerns and make sure this treatment is suitable for you.

If you're dealing with breakouts that you thought you'd left behind years ago, send me a message or book your skin consultation. 🧡

✨ Think laser is just for hair removal? Think again…

Laser hair removal is still a big part of what I do at Luxe, but it’s definitely not the only thing I use laser technology for.

I offer a range of laser and light-based treatments to target different concerns — from unwanted hair and tattoos to pigmentation, acne, rosacea and thread veins.

Here’s what you can currently have treated at Luxe Skin and Laser Lounge:

✨ Laser Hair Removal
For long-term reduction of unwanted hair, with treatments tailored to your skin and hair type.

✨ Tattoo Removal
Targeting unwanted tattoo pigment, with your treatment plan based on the tattoo, ink and how your skin responds.

✨ PMU Removal
For suitable permanent makeup that you’d like to remove or fade.

✨ Pigmentation Removal
For certain types of unwanted pigmentation, helping to create a more even-looking complexion.

✨ Thread Vein Removal
For suitable small thread veins, including areas such as the nose and cheeks.

✨ Acne Laser Treatment
A targeted treatment combining carbon laser, acne-specific IPL settings and blue LED to help address acne-prone skin.

✨ Rosacea Relief
IPL treatment for suitable areas affected by rosacea, designed to target visible redness and help create a more even-looking complexion.

✨ Carbon Laser Facial
A deep-cleansing and resurfacing treatment to leave skin looking fresher, smoother and more refined.

✨ IPL Skin Rejuvenation
A non-invasive treatment targeting concerns such as uneven skin tone, pigmentation and visible signs of ageing for a brighter, more refreshed complexion.

And here's the important bit… 👇

Laser isn't a case of “pick a treatment and turn up.”

Every client needs a consultation so I can assess your skin, discuss your concerns and make sure the treatment is suitable for you. Patch testing is also required before laser treatments where applicable.
Your skin comes first — always. 🧡

📍 Advanced laser treatments are available at my Cathcart clinic on Fridays & Saturdays.

Not sure which treatment is right for your skin? Send me a message or book a consultation and we can work it out together.

😂 Saturday night plans…

Some people were out drinking, dancing, socialising and having fun.

Me? In my PJs at 5pm dermaplaning my face. 😂

I'd already cleansed my skin in the shower, so I applied a little oil and got to work.

I could actually see that my makeup hadn't been sitting quite as nicely on my forehead, so I knew it was time for a little exfoliation.

After my dermaplane, I popped on my Tropic Hydrogel Face Mask for some serious hydration. 💦 It gives up to 72 hours of hydration after one use.

And then came the glamorous part…

👀 The napkin.

All that little pile of vellus hair and dead skin that came off during the dermaplane.

Not exactly Saturday night clubbing material… but honestly, I'd take this. 😂🧡

And my skin afterwards? Smooth, fresh, hydrated and glowing.

Sometimes a Saturday night at home is exactly what your skin needs. 🍂✨

Who's hungover and washing last night's makeup off 😂 not me 🤭

🍂 My autumn skin reset — part 2

So… I didn't quite manage the advanced exfoliation treatment I said I was going to do 😂
And I didn't wash my hair either, despite telling you I would! 🙈

Instead, I kept things simple and did my usual at-home routine with my Tropic products.

I cleansed in the shower, then used Face Smooth, a gentle exfoliator, to help remove dead skin cells and leave my skin feeling smoother.

Once I came out of the shower, I used Morning Mist Toning Essence, followed by Fruit Smooth, a gentle resurfacing serum.

I then applied Skin Dream moisturiser, followed by a few drops of Elixir for a little extra hydration and radiance. ✨

And actually, this is a good reminder that an autumn skin reset doesn't have to mean completely changing your routine or throwing loads of products at your skin.

Sometimes it's simply about gentle exfoliation, hydration and giving your skin what it needs. 🧡

I can see that my makeup isn't sitting quite as well on my forehead, though, so I'll be doing my dermaplane at the weekend — and I'll show you that too.

If you're not sure what your skin needs as we head into autumn, drop me a DM and I'll be happy to help. 🧡

🍂 3 things I'd change in my skincare routine this autumn

As we move out of summer, your skin can start needing something a little different.

💧 1. Focus on hydration
Sun, heat and time outdoors can leave skin feeling dehydrated, so now is a good time to introduce more hydration where your skin needs it.

✨ 2. Think about gentle exfoliation
A build-up of dead skin cells can leave your skin looking dull and feeling rough. Gentle, appropriate exfoliation can help bring back that fresh glow.

🤍 3. Look after your skin barrier
Cooler weather, wind and indoor heating can all leave skin feeling drier and more sensitive, so keep your routine gentle and supportive.

And remember — you don't need to completely overhaul your skincare routine just because the seasons change.

Listen to your skin and adjust what it needs. 🧡

I'll be sharing more autumn skin advice over the next few days… and then I'll show you exactly how I'm giving my own skin a little reset. 🍂

Have you noticed your skin looking or feeling a little different lately? 🍂

Summer can leave behind more than a tan, and as we move into cooler weather, your skin can start asking for something different too.

If you're noticing dullness, dehydration, congestion or uneven skin tone, now is a really good time to reassess what your skin actually needs.

I'm going to be sharing some simple autumn skincare advice over the next few days — and I've also got something new coming to the treatment menu very soon… 👀🧡
