Month 3 of 6 💜

Some of you may know, between July and Nov 2024 I was quite ill with terrible abdomen pains and a very scary chest infection that nearly turned into pnemonia. Both of these episodes caused me to take significant time off work and things were very scary and uncertain.

During this time I visited my local doctor's office several times and two local hospitals, while also interacting with numerous ambulance EMT/Paramedics, doctors, and nurses on staff in the ER/A&E. All of the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde staff Ive met through those experiences were patient with me, kind, gentle, and thorough, despite them often being overworked, underpaid, and underappreciated 💜

For this reason, Id like to pay it forward with a monthly contest for a free 60-min signature facial for a female NHS worker or First Responder at my Lavender Cottage Spa studio in Glasgow City Centre 💜

For the next few months, there will be a new contest post around the 20th of each month. Ill announce the winner for that month around the 30th of each month 💜

Save your money on overpriced and fantastically marketed cleansers, and invest your money where it counts: targeted serums and retinoids with great quality active ingredients that actually produce visible results to help you reach your skin goals 💜

A simple non-fragranced and gentle cleanser from your local pharmacy is enough and ideal if you are on a high-strength retinoid, as cleansers with active ingredients could aggravate skin more because skin can be highly sensitive while using retinoids 💜

With cleansers, simplicity is key; save your money and active ingredients for products you keep on your face for hours, rather than washing right off 💜

Ps. Id avoid face wipes to remove makeup as they can be too harsh for skin and can cause more issues by compromising your skin barrier, however, if you have to choose between a face wipe after a night out or sleeping in your makeup, use the face wipe and never ever ever sleep in your makeup, your skin always keeps score 💜

Miracle high street gem 💜 you may have heard debates recently about the Anua Azelaic Acid serum due to its higher than expected pH, about a 6.5 pH. Some derms praise this formulation and some are adament the higher pH negates the possible benefits of azelaic acid which is typically at a 3.5-4.5 pH.

However, I say try for yourself, it's about £22 at Boots, and don't listen to the naysayers and nonbelievers until you test it on your own skin 💜

I've personally had amazing results from just this wee bottle, you can see Im nearly finished with it, and my hyperpigmentation has significantly faded with just one bottle 💜 azelaic acid can also help calm redness, fade dark spots, and keep blemishes under control.

On most days, I use it 2x/day, each am and pm, after cleansing. I personally dont layer it under my retinoid every 2-3 days 💜

**Always use SPF50+ the morning after a retinoid or your skin will age faster than a plum turning into a prune - truth and this comes from a place of love, use the SPF 💜

So spicy I had to take my cardigan off 💜
