Little awareness post 🌻 ••

With the consent of my client anonymously I just wanted to share something I’m seeing and hearing of far too often.

Lots of people now attend NSS salons due to the convenience which I completely get. The way they damage and have no regards for nail health completely boggles my mind and leaves me so frustrated (not pointing fingers, I’m purely highlighting a world wide issue).

Now I’m fortunate I haven’t taken on new clients for 2 years so I know the nail health of all my clients and have no worries, however time to time clients have to cancel and have attended these places for a one off. Again totally understand the convenience.

Problem is, I’m left in such an awkward position where in my head I see the state of the nails and know I shouldn’t apply anything but I can’t let my clients down by saying ‘really sorry these are too damaged I can’t apply anything today’. However over the last year I have had to do this and it leaves both me and my client deflated and also I’ve lost money on those appointments too.

What I’m seeing and why it’s so dangerous for your nails 🤓..

The side walls of nails are filed to extreme causing severe damage, red raw nail beds and fungal nails at times!!
What happens, is due to the nail being filed down so so thin, the sidewalls, when they grow up it leaves a gap between the skin and the nail bed allowing moisture to get in, this then causes fungal infection.

Ring of fire - where they have used electric drills and ran the drill over the gel nails AND your natural nail.

All of this can take months and months to repair. If not over a year and some cases once damage is done there’s no going back.

I always feel like I’m the nail police (I joke with you all) and have asked for photos before booking with me etc but it’s because there’s so much bad practice going on in the industry.

Please please don’t think ‘awkt it’s just nails’ same goes for toenails if you’re concerned about fungal nails please see a podiatrist. I can’t diagnose - I can only make nails look pretty. I will refuse treatment if anything looks suspect.

Beauty insurance don’t cover under 16s for a reason - nails are still developing and again once damage is done they can be left with badly damaged nails for life.

Please be mindful of where you book and also if you’re visiting these places inbetween appointments with me, there’s a high chance I’ll refuse treatment. I have to put my big girl pants on lol.

Please note I have a few days off in the October holidays and I break off on the 23rd December (that date is already full however) and return to work on the 6th January.

Absolutely no stress to pop them all in but just to let you guys know for holidays etc.
