If you’d told the girl I was at school that one day she’d be standing in front of a room full of people, teaching them something she had built a career from, I genuinely don’t think she would have believed you.

I hated school.

I struggled hugely because of my dyslexia and for a long time I felt like I was the problem. Learning didn’t come easily to me and I never felt like I fitted into the way school expected me to learn.

Looking back now, I honestly feel like the education system failed me in a lot of ways. I was made to feel like because I struggled academically, I wouldn’t amount to much. Makeup was never really seen as a “proper career” either.

But the funny thing is… I found something I was actually good at. Something I loved. Something that allowed me to learn in a completely different way.

Nearly 9 years later, makeup has given me a career I’m incredibly proud of. I’ve built a business from the ground up, worked with hundreds of amazing women and now I’m standing in front of a room teaching other people something I once had to teach myself.

So this is for the girl who was made to feel like she wasn’t clever enough, academic enough or capable enough.

Where do I even begin?! This honestly still feels like such a pinch me moment…🥹

If little 17 year old Maisy could have seen me last night I genuinely think she would have been so proud of the woman I’ve become and everything I’ve achieved. From struggling through school with dyslexia to standing in front of a room full of people hosting my very first ever 𝗦𝗢𝗟𝗗 𝗢𝗨𝗧 makeup masterclass… what a moment!🤍
