Never a truer word said! No denying the impeccable talent of Kim’s makeup artist, Mario. Social media is to blame for setting unrealistic, unachievable images. Embrace your natural beauty and don’t let negative energy get in your way! 😘

This pic has been doing the rounds the last few days but I wanted to share it to highlight this. Kim K has one of the best makeup artists in the world at the moment in Mario. But even he can’t achieve that ‘airbrushed, instagram effect’ without photoshop. And why? Because it’s not reality. Everyone has flaws, pores, breakouts, uneven tone and texture. Makeup for this purpose (red carpet) is super thick and up close looks awful, as it’s created for photography and certain lighting. All of the images brides show me are from Pinterest in the main. Makeup on those images has been photoshopped. Hair styles mostly have heaps of extensions in them. Using social media to get an idea of the type of look you are after is great, but we have to be realistic. And work with what you are naturally born with, which makes us who we are and gorgeous in our own rights. Kim K has incredible skin up close for her age, but she has all the money in the world to spend on it.

Moral of the story, instagram is fake, and it’s sad! Love who you are and when selecting your makeup artist, someone who can make you a more glamorous version of you, flaws and all 😘😘

As far as work days go, today has to have been the best. When I quit my job in publishing after ten years to pursue a life long dream of becoming a Makeup Artist, a lot of people (myself included!) thought I may have been having some sort of crisis. The retraining and hard work has paid off. I met an idol today who was instrumental in this path to happiness, Charlotte Tilbury. I am so lucky! ❤
