The Scots Hair Design Salon is situated on the beautiful road of Swinegate, within a stone’s throw of St Wulfram’s church and opposite Watergate car park, making it incredibly easy to park making your visit even easier. The salon has a quirky and unique look, with bespoke mirrors and reception desk, 12 cutting stations and 4 backwashes. It is a relaxed environment ensuring clients are at ease in a professional and friendly atmosphere. You want your salon to give you good advice, good standards, latest treatments, styles and colours, value for money and results. We can provide that with our staff that are rich in creativity and inspiration, using innovative techniques and products ensuring you get the best. Our styles rely on the quality of the cut, reducing the need to spend hours at home trying to re-create a salon finish. Our philosophy is incredibly simple: we specialise in versatile classic and up to date styles that are easy to manage and maintain in between visits, which are tailor made to you as an individual. Our team at Scots are highly trained, have a commitment to excellence and most importantly a passion for hairdressing. Every aspect is taken into consideration, with every single client, the approach to cutting, colouring, face shape, lifestyle and character is looked at and a bespoke look to you is created. You get a style that you can wear everyday - with a little investment we can transform how you feel.

This reel pretty much sums up what a great education day is all about!
Starting with what’s TRENDING NOW, breaking down our inspiration and consultation, then taking those ideas straight onto the salon floor.
Working alongside Dawn and our fantastic Neal & Wolf educator Kelly Hewitt & Talisa, we created this gorgeous rich copper — keeping plenty of warmth but adding subtle dimension through some really simple placement.
And that was probably my biggest takeaway… it didn’t need to be complicated! 🙌
Sometimes the simplest techniques, placed in exactly the right areas, can create the most beautiful result.
A little tidy-up of those soft layers, keeping that fabulous heavier fringe, and we were DONE. ✂️🧡
I absolutely LOVE the finished colour — rich, glossy, dimensional and very much where copper is heading right now.
Inspiration → consultation → creation → result.
That’s what education is all about. 💜

A HUGE congratulations to our amazing Art Director, Keily Wright, and Style Director, Claire Thorpe, who have officially PASSED their Neal & Wolf Colour Masters Degree! 🥳👏
After two incredibly intense days in Skipton, completing both their practical and theory examinations, the girls called the salon with the BEST news… they’ve both passed! 🎉
We know just how much hard work, studying, dedication and determination has gone into achieving this qualification, and to hear how well they had both done was just wonderful. They were completely overwhelmed — and so were we! 🥹💜
And this makes today even more special…

Keily and Claire now join Jennifer and Ruby, who previously completed their Colour Masters Degrees, giving our clients an incredible depth of colour knowledge, expertise and education right here in the salon.

On Thursday, our beautiful second-year apprentice Lexi was awarded Grantham College Apprentice of the Year 2026 – and we couldn’t be prouder! 🏆💙
What makes this award even more special is that Lexi was chosen by her fellow students in recognition of her hard work, dedication, determination and the sparkling personality she brings wherever she goes. That says so much about the person she is.
