I struggled with acne from my teens until my 30s.
If I could go back, I’d tell myself:

✨ Stop trying to dry your skin out with harsh alcohol-based toners. I used products like Clearasil for years thinking I could dry my acne away. I couldn’t.

✨ Oily skin still needs hydration. Drying it out won’t make it less oily, but it can leave it dehydrated, irritated and more prone to breakouts.

✨ Stop overusing acids and retinoids. Applying them more often or using stronger products won’t get you clear skin faster. It will only damage your skin barrier.

✨ No, the sun is not going to cure your acne. I used to think my skin looked better after a holiday. A few weeks later I’d usually be dealing with an even worse breakout.

✨ Stop picking your spots. The acne disappears. The scars can stay for years.

✨ Stop buying every miracle product you see online. Most of the time you don’t need another product. You need a plan.

✨ Be kinder to yourself. One day you’ll realise that nobody notices your skin as much as you do.

And one more thing…

The years you spent struggling with acne will eventually help you become a better skin therapist because you’ll truly understand what your clients are going through. 🤍

If you’re struggling with acne, acne scarring or simply don’t know where to start, send me a message and let’s create a treatment plan that works for your skin.

But the neck and décolletage are often the first areas to reveal signs of ageing , even before the face.
Dryness, loss of elasticity, fine lines and creases tend to appear here much faster.

Don’t wait until the changes become visible-prevention is always more effective than correction.

I don’t share before & after photos very often. In reality, many clients prefer to keep their treatments private, and I fully respect that.

This lovely client kindly gave me permission to share her journey.

She is a student who initially found me while looking for help with her skin. As she lives away from home, her mum understandably wanted to make sure her daughter was in safe hands. Her mum actually called me directly to ask about my qualifications, experience, and whether she could trust me with her daughter’s care. After a really nice conversation, I received the all-important approval 😊

We had a 6-week timeframe before her summer placement, so the focus was on realistic, visible improvement within a short period of time.

When she first came in, her skin was congested and significantly dehydrated, with a compromised skin barrier. Her skincare routine wasn’t suitable, which led to persistent redness and congestion.

The goal wasn’t just to clear breakouts, it was to restore hydration, calm inflammation, and repair the skin barrier.

We adjusted her home skincare routine, as she was fully on board from the beginning and keen to follow my recommendations to achieve visible improvement within 6 weeks.

Alongside this, we completed a course of treatments including extractions and gentle chemical peels.

As you can see, the improvement goes far beyond breakouts. Her skin looks calmer, healthier, and more balanced, with improved hydration and a much more even glow.

At her final appointment, she told me that for the first time in her life, people had started complimenting her skin and honestly, that made me so happy.

It’s moments like this that remind me why I love what I do, seeing someone’s confidence come back along with their skin.

Thank you for trusting me with your skin journey ❤️

Azelaic acid is often considered a gold standard ingredient for rosacea-prone and reactive skin mainly because it works on inflammation, redness and breakouts at the same time, without being overly aggressive.

What makes Azelac Gel different from a typical pharmacy azelaic acid is the way it’s formulated and tolerated. Instead of a more “direct” strong acid feel, it uses a gentler derivative in a lightweight gel base, which makes it easier for sensitive or compromised skin to actually stay consistent with it.

So it’s less about “stronger vs weaker”, and more about comfort + long-term use -calming the skin, controlling oil and improving texture without the irritation that often comes with standard azelaic acid products.

When is it okay for a skin therapist to refuse treatment?

• Unrealistic expectations
“I want to look 20 years younger after one treatment. I’m 40, I’ve never had any aesthetic treatments before, and my budget is £50.”

I’m a skin therapist, not a magician.

• Non-compliance
When a client tells you they don’t follow aftercare advice because “everything heals perfectly anyway.”

• Red flags from the very first message
Sometimes you can tell right away that it’s not going to be a productive client-therapist relationship.

• Contraindications
The obvious one:
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, active infection, certain autoimmune conditions, and other medical contraindications.

Sometimes the most professional answer is simply: “No.”

A little reminder: your consent form isn’t a test, and I’m not trying to catch you out. 😊

Every question is there for a reason. Information about your health, medications, allergies, and previous treatments can all affect how your treatment is planned and how your skin responds.

Sometimes clients seem tempted to keep a few details to themselves, but the truth is: the more I know, the better I can tailor your treatment and keep it as safe as possible.

So please be honest when filling out your consent form , I’m not being nosey, I’m just trying to give you the best possible treatment and results.
