Somewhere between the church ceilings, hidden courtyards and climbing far too many stairs, Budapest has completely won me over.

Every corner seems to reveal something unexpected.

I'm leaving with sore feet, a full camera roll and approximately 700 photos of ceilings.

A giant tree. Blue skies stitched with clouds. Cold cocktails on hot afternoons. Checkerboard hallways. Ancient doors. Shadows crossing the road together.

The landmarks were spectacular, but these are the moments I'll remember.

Things I loved about Budapest:

• The church roof tiles. • The ridiculously dramatic clouds. • The watermelon angels. • Accidentally turning every museum visit into an existential experience. • Taking approximately 400 photos of statues. • Spending time with Mum and my brother.

I've spent so much of this year planning my next move that it felt really lovely to just... wander for a bit.
