If you’ve noticed I’ve been a little quieter than usual on social media over the last few days, there’s a reason.

Those who know me know I’m normally very consistent. I love sharing my life, my clinic, my clients’ journeys, my travel adventures, my travel membership, and all the things that make me smile. I’m naturally a bubbly person and I genuinely love lifting other people up.

But last week, I lost my beloved cat, Mia.

To some people, she was “just a cat”. To me, she was family. She was my fur baby, my little shadow, and a huge part of our lives. To say I was heartbroken would be an understatement.

What surprised me was how much losing her brought back other grief that I’ve carried over the years. The loss of my Mom and Dad, who were such a massive part of my life and who I still miss every single day. Sometimes when one painful thing happens, it opens the door to other hurts you’ve experienced, and before you know it, you’re carrying far more than you realised.

The last few days have been tough. Really tough.

But I wanted to come on here and say thank you. Thank you for every message, every comment, every hug, every kind word, and every person who took the time to check in on me. Your support has meant more than you’ll ever know.

I also wanted to share something important.

We never truly know what someone is carrying.

The person standing next to you in the supermarket queue.
The colleague at work.
The friend who seems to have it all together.
The person smiling in a photograph.

We have no idea what battles people are fighting behind closed doors.

So please, be kind.

Be patient.

Be gentle.

And remember that sometimes people don’t feel like smiling, talking, posting, or being their usual selves, and that’s okay.
