BLOU’S JOURNEY 💙🌍
Some clients sit in your chair… and some literally cross countries to get there. 🥹
Over the years, Blou has travelled from Portugal, Scotland, by plane AND in a camper van just to come and have her hair done.
She now lives in Wales… and still makes a 246-mile journey EACH WAY to sit in my chair. 🤯💙
And I don’t think I’ll ever be able to properly explain how much that means to me.
Yes, we create some pretty bloody cool hair together 😂 but it’s become so much more than that. It’s the catch-ups, the trust, the transformations and getting to be a tiny part of someone’s story year after year.
Blou, thank you for every mile, every journey and every time you’ve trusted me with your hair. 💙
And to every single person who travels to come and see me — whether it’s 20 minutes, two hours or hundreds of miles — please know I never take it for granted.

If you know my vivid work, you know I’m usually reaching for half the colour shelf 😂 But for Blou’s refresh, I wanted to keep the palette simple and let the placement + custom mixing do the work.
We took her faded-out blue and transformed it into a bright blue melting into the juiciest custom-mixed turquoise, using just THREE colours to create the whole look.
Sometimes more colours doesn’t mean more dimension. Knowing what to mix, where to place it and how those colours are going to melt together is where the magic happens. 🧪
And while we’re talking about Blou… there’s something else I’ve never really spoken about.
How far she actually travels to get her hair done by me. 👀

Every single one of us will section differently, apply, mix, place or style differently too.
These aren't random habits, they're learned behaviours, refined skills, and personal signatures shaped by training and experience. ❤️
This means you are unique, this is your identity and therefore you cannot compete with that, so competition is unnecessary.. 🌈✨
Two stylists can use the exact same formula and application and get totally different results, and that's ok.
That's not something to compare or shame, that's something to recognise and respect..

YOUR CONSULTATION IS PART OF YOUR FORMULATION 📖
Before I pick up a tint brush, I want to know what my client actually means when they say…
“I want it brighter.”
“I don’t want it too warm.”
“I want something different.”
“I want it vivid… but not TOO vivid.” 😂
Because our version of a colour and our client’s version can be two completely different things.
This is why I LOVE using visuals during consultations. ✨
Colour charts, swatches, reference pictures — anything that gets us both speaking the same colour language.
But the consultation goes deeper than choosing a pretty shade.
I’m looking at ...
- Their current level & underlying pigment
- Previous colour history
- Hair condition & porosity
- What’s realistically achievable
- Placement and how that will affect the finished look
- Maintenance and what they’re prepared to do at home
Then comes the formulation.
What is already in the hair + where we need to get to + what happens chemically in between?
That’s the bit I want stylists to start THINKING about rather than just reaching for a formula they’ve seen online.
A good consultation isn’t just “what colour do you want?”
It’s gathering all the information you need to create your blueprint before you start.
And sometimes the most professional thing you can say is:
“We can get there… just maybe not today.”

Using a permanent colour mix for the base, and adding ribbons of Reboost+ this mix is just so bloody gorgeous!
Colour palette below ⬇️
5.4 & 043 with 10vol as root colour, and then pulled through in ribbons.
Magenta & Red - applied in 1inch sections and pulled through to the ends, making sure the colours don't over lap but are big enough sections to see each colour perfectly.
POV: You’re trying to sound educational but Bisabolol has other plans. 😂
Anyway… pronunciation skills aside, Illumination Cream remains my absolute go-to.
