The Natural Spa company posted an amazing feature of how their soap bars are made!

To make our natural soap and other similar bars products ( like our shampoo and face wash bars ) you do need to use Sodium Hydroxide AKA Lye.

You may know lye as the caustic stuff that you use to clean drains but it is the essential ingredient that turns a liquid oil or butter into a solid salt form aka Soap.

This active ingredient once we start the saponification process is no longer present after 24 hours in the soap and instead a salt of oil is in place e.g olive oil -- > Sodium Olivate + Glycerin

Sodium hydroxide naturally forms in wood ash and thus the very interesting story of how the process to make soap was found.
