How are your feet feeling?
Have you noticed your mum, dad or an older loved one struggling to cut their toenails? Or your child complaining about sore feet, or finding walking a little more uncomfortable?
As we get older, looking after our feet can become more difficult. Thickened nails, hard skin and painful corns can make everyday tasks harder than they need to be. Young feet are prone to infections like verrucas which can be painful when walking and during sports activities.
Sometimes, the kindest thing we can do is simply ask, “How are your feet feeling?”
If you’re helping an older family member, encourage them to have their feet checked and seek professional help when needed. Always respect their choices, dignity and independence.
We understand that everyone deserves to feel comfortable, listened to and cared for whatever their age.
Because helping someone stay comfortable on their feet is one small way of helping them maintain their independence.

Did you know?
- Cracked heels are one of the most common foot problems we see during the summer months
- Warm weather, sandals, walking barefoot and spending more time outdoors can dry out the skin on your feet
- When dry skin combines with pressure from standing or walking, it can split, leading to painful cracks
Having hard skin professionally treated can help keep your feet comfortable and healthy.
If your heels are painful, bleeding or the cracks aren’t improving, don’t ignore them. Early treatment can prevent infection and get you back to walking comfortably.

When your feet hurt, you just want a quick fix but some home remedies can actually make things worse.
In clinic we've seen garlic taped to toenails for fungal infections, bathroom surgery on ingrown nails, and various "miracle cures". Your feet deserve better than viral hacks.
