PRP TREATMENT FACT SHEET

What is PRP?

PRP stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma. It is a regenerative treatment created using a small sample of your own blood.

The blood is placed into a centrifuge, which separates the platelet-rich plasma from the other blood components. The concentrated plasma is then injected or applied to the chosen treatment area.

Platelets contain naturally occurring growth factors that may support healing, collagen production and tissue renewal.

What can PRP help improve?

PRP may help to:

* Soften the appearance of fine lines
* Improve skin texture and tone
* Support collagen and elastin production
* Improve the appearance of tired under-eyes
* Promote firmer, healthier-looking skin
* Reduce the appearance of some acne scars
* Support hair growth and scalp health
* Create gradual, natural-looking rejuvenation

Results vary between clients and cannot be guaranteed.

What areas can be treated?

PRP can be used on the:

Is there any downtime?

Most clients can return to normal activities shortly afterwards. Temporary effects may include:

* Swelling
* Tenderness
* Bruising
* Mild itching or sensitivity
* Small raised areas at the injection points
* Temporary tightness or dryness

These effects commonly settle within a few days. Under-eye swelling may occasionally last longer.

Who may not be suitable?

PRP may not be appropriate if you:

* Are pregnant or breastfeeding
* Have an active infection or skin condition in the treatment area
* Have certain blood, platelet or clotting disorders
* Have severe anaemia
* Have uncontrolled diabetes or another poorly controlled medical condition
* Are taking blood-thinning medication
* Have certain immune-system conditions
* Are currently receiving certain cancer treatments

This list is not exhaustive. Your full medical history and medication must be discussed honestly during consultation.

Never stop prescribed medication unless advised by the clinician who prescribed it.

Before your appointment

* Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours.
* Drink plenty of water.
* Eat before attending your appointment.
* Arrive with clean skin where possible.
* Avoid strenuous exercise immediately before treatment.
* Tell your practitioner about all medical conditions, allergies, medicines and supplements.
* Do not stop prescribed medication without medical advice.

Aftercare

For the first 24–48 hours:

* Avoid touching or rubbing the treated area unnecessarily.
* Avoid makeup for the period advised by your practitioner.
* Avoid intense exercise, alcohol, saunas, steam rooms and excessive heat.
* Avoid swimming and strenuous activity.
* Use gentle skincare and a daily SPF.
* Avoid retinoids, acids, scrubs and strong active products until the skin has settled.
* Do not massage the area unless instructed.
* Keep the treatment area clean.

Contact your practitioner if you experience worsening pain, increasing heat or redness, unusual skin-colour changes, discharge, visual disturbance or any symptom that concerns you.

Important information

Because PRP is prepared from your own blood, the risk of an allergic reaction to the injected material is reduced. However, PRP is still an invasive treatment and carries possible risks, including bruising, swelling, discomfort, infection, asymmetry and an unsatisfactory result.

A full consultation, medical assessment and informed consent are required before treatment.
