LETS TALK PIN CURLS

Pin curls are one of those old school techniques that still outperform a lot of modern shortcuts

Cooling phase
Hair only sets in shape when it’s cool. When you brush a section smooth and curl it amongst heat, the hydrogen bonds in the hair temporarily shift, if you let it drop straight away and start brushing it out before it cooled down then it’s game over

More height & volume
Pinning with lift = instant volume. If you secure the curl slightly elevated at the root the hair will cool with built in height. This avoids using backcombing and causing any unnecessary damage

Longer lasting style
When curls are not pinned, gravity starts to pull them out before the hair has finished setting. Pinning supports the curl until it’s fully cooled
