There’s been a lot of scary information circulating about gel nails, TPO and UV/LED lamps — so I wanted to share a little clarification with my clients. 🤍
TPO was a photo-initiator used in some gel products to help them cure under a lamp. It has now been restricted in cosmetic products in the EU and UK, which means professionals must use products that comply with current regulations.
However, a change in regulation does not mean that everyone who previously had a TPO-containing manicure has been harmed. Scientific studies, exposure levels and the way a substance is used all matter when assessing risk.
What matters to me as your nail technician is making sure I use compliant professional products, correct application, proper curing and safe techniques — while continuing to educate myself and put your nail health first. ✨
So please don’t panic about your previous manicures. ❤️
And as always, if you have any questions or concerns about the products I use, please ask me — I’m always happy to explain.
