Soap for the Soul

You turn your back for a few days and this happens. Getting back in the field to tidy up after some time away and boy oh boy ! I left perfect little lavender bushes carefree and snuggling down in the sunshine and have returned to gnarly grass choked, nettle infested mounds of dispair😝 Bring back the pretty purple and blue hues of delicate scented lavender spike please! Can we just skip this part of the lavender farming ?

Headed out this morning to gather some ferns and foliage for a wreath I’m making , it’s a beautiful bright Autumn day and I spent it in one of my favourite places, in the woods . Back home, dinner prep done, kettle on and catch up on emails when this popped up on a friends feed, feeling slight guilt now from my foraging 🍂 🍁 🌰 🥹🙄🫣😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Captured this little cabbage white yesterday making enjoying the sunshine warmth , feeding from a dandelion when I went to hang up the washing , we both made the most of the sunshine . Fresh line dried laundry is just the best, don’t you agree. 🧺

Anyone else think they can see a little flower on a stem in this Provence Soap bar?

Clearly this little lavender thinks it’s spring already!
Checking on our cutting this morning and they are doing ok, despite the deluge from the past few days rainfall.
These are last Augusts and seem eager to bloom ahead of the others.

Trying out a new tincture recipe today .
My first using rosemary , I’ve made infused vinegar before and it’s delicious in dressings but as I’ve got a load of cuttings I’ve propagated these spikes are going spare. Rosemary is a versatile herb , much like lavender it has antmicrobial and antibacterial properties and is a good natural source of manganese . Its oils can help support the immune system so I’m hoping that combined with fresh turmeric root and lemon it will be a good addiction to the store cupboard for the winter months. Decided last minute to add cinnamon too , it smells good, let’s hope it takes good .

My little froggy friend is still
patiently waiting for his wardrobe. With the longer evenings setting in after the autumn equinox I am sure there will be a few hours spare to sort out his dilemma. In the meantime he is perched, guarding our fishies, just hoping he behaves and doesn’t hop on in for a snack or 2 .

Waiting patiently for this batch of Provence to settle for cutting and curing . The process of soap making keeps you hanging around for the next phase but it is so worth it when it is all complete. It’s been a busy few days and this is the 5th make since the weekend, stocking up ready for the Christmas Markets 🎄 and while I’m waiting I got busy with these guest Lavender soap bars, all cut and curing nicely and smell divine 💜
