As with anything your before and after care is critical to the final results you will receive.
Following a teeth-whitening procedure, the first 48
hours are the most crucial to the teeth because they
are more prone to blemishes at this time. If you
want the best results and prolong your teeth
whiteness, you must avoid eating deep-colored
meals and using to***co. Items to avoid have been included in this post!
Your teeth will be sensitive after the whitening
procedure. You should generally avoid meals that
are either too hot or too cold. Buying toothpaste
designed especially for sensitive teeth will help to
reduce potential discomfort. Recommend that they
apply the toothpaste and leave it in for 10-15
minutes before rinsing it out.
Depending on the type of teeth whitening
procedure, your teeth should retain their
whiteness for at least a year or more with proper
dental care. If you have questions, feel free to reach
out to your dentist to address your concerns.

WHAT CAUSES TOOTH STAINING?
There are many reasons why teeth can stain. As a Cosmetic Teeth Whitening technician it is important to identify the causes of your stains to be more realist about the outcome of your treatment.
There are 8 main causes for tooth staining:
1: Age (yellow cast)
There is a direct correlation between tooth colour and age. Over the years, teeth darken because of wear and tear and stain accumulation.
2. Genetic discolouration (grey cast)
We are all equipped with an inborn tooth colour that ranges from yellow-brownish to greenish-grey and intensifies over time.
3. Translucency and thinness
These are also genetic traits that become more pronounced with age. While all teeth show some translucency, those that are opaque and thick have an advantage: they appear lighter in colour, show more
sparkle and are generally more responsive to whitening.
4. Grinding
Most frequently caused by stress, teeth grinding, and gnashing can add to micro-cracking in the teeth and can cause the biting edges to darken.
5/6: Drugs/chemicals
Tetracycline usage during tooth formation produces dark grey or brown ribbon stains which are very difficult to remove.
7. Smoking (dark yellow/brown cast)
Ni****ne leaves brownish deposits that slowly soak into the tooth structure and become intrinsic discolouration.
8. Eating habits (patchy stains on teeth)
The habitual consumption of red wine, coffee, tea, cola, carrots, oranges, and other deeply coloured beverages and foods cause considerable staining over the years. In addition, acidic foods such as citrus fruits and vinegar contribute to enamel erosion. As a result, the surface becomes more transparent and more of the yellow-colored dentin shows through.
As part of your consultation we will discuss the causes of your staining in order to tailor the treatment to your needs. DM us to book your FREE consultation today ☺️

Teeth whitening gel works through a chemical process called oxidation that involves the active ingredient, usually hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide, penetrating the tooth enamel and breaking down the molecules responsible for tooth stains.
Here’s how the teeth whitening gel works:
Step 1: Peroxide Pe*******on:
The teeth whitening gel, typically in the form of a gel or paste, is applied to the surface
of the teeth. The active ingredient in the gel, such as hydrogen peroxide or carbamide
peroxide begin to pe*****te the tooth enamel.
Step 2: Oxidation of Stains:
Once the peroxide pe*****tes the enamel, it undergoes a chemical reaction called
oxidation. The peroxide breaks down the oxygen molecules, which interact with the coloured
compounds (stains) in the teeth that cause tooth staining. The oxygen molecules break down the chromogens into small, less pigmented particles, making them whiter.
Step 3: Removal of Discolouration:
As the oxidation process continues, the oxygen molecules work to remove both surface stains and deeper discolouration in the tooth structure. However, the oxygen molecules cannot reach the dentil layer beneath the enamel, meaning internal (intrinsic) stains cannot be affected by teeth whitening.
