Contemporary artists presenting 2-D & 3-D work in a 1st-floor 14th Century space in the Independent
The Gallery@OMP offers a first-floor space for the use of artists, artisans, and art-related exhibitors; enabling contemporary artists to present 2-D and 3-D work in a 14th Century building, the Old Mayor's Parlour, at 23 Church Street. Located in the Independent Quarter in Hereford City; Hereford's bijou take on the Brighton Lanes and York's Shambles. The present building was probably laid-out in the early 16th century. On the first floor of the Old Mayor’s Parlour there is a particularly rare plaster ceiling ; a fine example of ornate decorative plasterwork incorporating coats of arms and nature inspired subjects. So the venue is of interest to residents and visitors to the City who are art buyers and collectors, gallery browsers, history buffs or those just curious to look.

Prizewinner Liz Huppert claimed the Old Mayors Parlour h.Art exhibition 2nd prize spot. Read on for Liz's artist biography and visit her work throughout h.Art week and until the end of September.
After graduating in BA Ceramics from Bath Academy of Art in 1989, Liz was introduced to the medium of stained glass by a friend. She was struck by the way that light illuminates glass and sends coloured patterns dancing onto walls. Since then she has established herself as a successful Stained Glass Artist, producing ornate glass artworks that can be seen hanging in homes all over the world.
She now works and teaches from her Worcestershire studio. Using traditional glass painting methods, such as sgraffito, and the Tiffany/copperfoiling technique.
Liz is inspired by, and produces panels featuring British flora and fauna and the countryside around her home.

Just 2 weeks to go before the incredible Herefordshire Art week opens, when The Craft Gallery in the Old Mayor's Parlour hosts our annual h.art Prize Exhibition celebrating our chosen 2026 prizewinners. Join us during the event between Saturday 5th to Sunday 13th September and meet the prize winners Ita Drew, Liz Huppert and Alisha Davidson where you can talk to them about their work and craft practices.
