Helping women to look and feel wonderful using colour
02/07/2024
At the end of August I'm going to stop doing Colour Consultations. I've had a great time and met some wonderful people but feel it's now time for something else. If you've been thinking about booking a session but just not got round to it, then don't delay any longer đ

Do you have enough neutrals in your wardrobe? Often when a client tells me they have nothing to wear, they are missing fundamental building block colours and these are neutrals!
Charcoal grey, navy and stone might not be as exciting as hot pink, sky blue and orange-red but they will provide you with a good base for you to build lots of outfit options. Get them right and you will also find that you donât need to have a huge wardrobe of clothes which of course will save you money.
Do you know your best neutrals?

Ombré is an excellent choice for those who have a 'softer' look. Bright, bold colours can overwhelm some people; in fact, you see the clothes before you see the person!
Our Soft palette is for those who have little contrast between their hair and skin tone, and muted eyes. Dark blondes/light brown hair are characteristic of this palette. For Softs, we always recommend dressing tonally, so Ombré is an easy win as not only are the colours muted, but they are also tonal as well.

Thank you Gen Z for your exuberance and excitement for . TikTok is awash with people putting their head through seasonal filters, attempting to analyse their undertone with a white piece of paper, and draping themselves with colourful tea towels.
Of course, the best way to be analysed is with a professional like myself who has the correct tools. The tonal system which I use is the most accurate, as it is takes into account all skin tones. We have 24 variations of colour palette so you'll look fabulous in all the colours I give you (of course you may not like every colour, but thatâs a different story đ).

These are just some of the coloured drapes I use during a Colour Analysis session!
During our 2 hours together, I assess my clients hair colour, skin tone and eye colour to determine their depth, undertone and chroma.
I then work through the drapes, identifying those with the same characteristics as their unique colouring. These will form their bespoke colour palette - a wallet containing fabric swatches of all the colours which truly suit them.
They leave the session armed with their wallet, ready to use as a guide for all future shopping trips - no more mistake buys!

Do you wear black eye pencil? It's perfect for some people but far too heavy for most! A colour that tones in with your own dominant colouring is usually far more flattering and if your eyes aren't very dark then black will make them look smaller.
Which ones d'you think would be just right for you?

People are familiar with the terms; Light, Deep, Warm and Cool when describing not only a colour, but palettes in the tonal system. However there are two other palettes that often need a little more explaining; Clear and Soft. Clears have dark hair, bright eyes with a very contrasting look. Softâs hair and skin are much closer in colour with muted eyes, resulting in a more blended look. Indeed they are opposites!
Of course they both get colour, but we tweak the intensity and the way that they wear it. Take the aqua/turquoise trend that we are expecting to see this season. A Clear can wear a bright aquamarine and combine it with a deeper shade from her palette such as dark navy. This contrast will balance her strong look.
On the other hand, a softer duck egg or teal will work much better on a Soft, which she can team with a shade that is much closer in tone, such as taupe to balance her softer look.
One further thing to bear in mind; fabric is important to these two dominants. Fabrics that bounce light such as shiny satin will intensify a colour; great for Clears, whilst those that absorb light such as jersey will soften a colour; great for Softs.
In a full colour consultation everyone will have either a dominant, secondary or tertiary characteristic of softness or clarity, which dictates how best to put your colours together - do you know which yours is?

I'm often told by clients that they donât like lipstick and it's probably because they havenât found the perfect shade.
The Sheer range is ideal for those who want some colour but without the intensity. A fantastic choice if you donât like lip gloss.
