Rehabilitation is not about pushing through pain. It is about understanding your body and supporting it properly 🤍
So often people think they need to choose between massage, Pilates, or stretching. In reality, the most effective rehab approach often combines all three ✨
🤍 Massage to reduce protective tension and help the body feel safe
🤍 Pilates to build deep core strength and improve control
🤍 Supported stretching to release tight hips and legs that may be pulling on the lower back
🤍 Back focused care that looks at how you move in everyday life
It is not about quick fixes. It is about building strong foundations that allow your body to move with confidence again.
When rehabilitation is approached this way, progress feels steady and sustainable. Movement becomes easier. Discomfort feels more manageable. And you start to trust your body again 💫

Stretching after exercise is a non negotiable and part of the cool down.
Stretching after exercise helps muscles return to their natural length and begin the recovery process.
Tight muscles can increase strain on joints - particularly around the knees.
A few minutes of stretching post training can help reduce tension and support recovery.

A rest day shouldn’t only happen when an athlete is injured - whether you are an adult or a young athlete.
It should be part of training.
In youth sport especially, we often see weeks filled with:
✔ School sport
✔ Club training
✔ Matches
✔ Extra conditioning
But very little space for the body to recover and adapt.
Training places stress internally and externally on the body.
Rest is when the body actually:
• repairs muscles
• restores energy
• reduces fatigue
• adapts to the training load
Without proper rest, fatigue builds and movement quality can start to decline.
And when that happens, the body begins to compensate — which is when we often start to see overuse injuries and persistent pain.
For young athletes whose bodies are still growing, this becomes even more important.
Rest days shouldn’t be something we take only when something goes wrong.
They should be seen as a non-negotiable part of supporting performance and long-term participation in sport.
Training smarter means understanding when to push…
and when to allow the body to recover
What would be on your training receipt?
For many young athletes the week includes:
☑️ Training
☑️Running
☑️ Matches
☑️ Extra sessions
BUT often miss:
❌ Strength Balance
❌ Recovery
❌ Rest
The body hasn’t changed …. but the demands placed on a young athlete have increased.
Training smarter means understanding how the body develops and supporting it properly.
👉🏻 Parents and coaches - - dos this look familiar.
Comment ‘INFO’ for more details of how you can help your young athletes to reduce risk of injury.

Are we asking more from young athletes than their bodies are ready for?
If your daughter plays sport and you’ve noticed:
– Ongoing knee pain
– Constant tightness or soreness
– Fatigue that doesn’t seem to go away
This isn’t always just part of sport.
What’s often missing isn’t effort—
👉 It’s understanding.
Understanding how the body develops.
Understanding how training should adapt.
Understanding the importance of balance.
Because the body hasn’t changed…
But the demands placed on it have.
And without:
✔ Strength balance
✔ Movement control
✔ Proper recovery
👉 The risk of injury increases.
This is exactly why I’m so passionate about educating parents, young athletes, and coaches.
Not to stop sport—
👉 But to support it properly.
If this resonates and you’d like to understand how to support your child’s training better…

📣 Calling All Parents to Young Teenage Sports Athletes 📣
Ever wondered why your children, particularly daughters, may be complaining about sore knees more often - is it just growing pains?
‘You’re training needs to be more rounded .”
This was my advice recently when looking at how a group of young athlete girls were training.
On the surface, everything looked right.
Training sessions that focused on sports specific skills.
Strength & Conditioning that focused on sports specific movement.
High effort.
But when I watched how they were actually moving, a different picture emerged.
As a sports massage therapist of 20 years, and someone who grew up playing sport at a high level, I’ve seen injuries from every angle.
But now, as a parent of two highly active teenage children, my eyes have opened even more.
📩 Message if this sounds familiar & follow for advice on what you can do to reduce the risk of knee pain & injury.

🌼 With signs of Spring starting to show & the beginning of March - which is becoming my favourite time of year (was definitely my mums 🩶 🕊️)
Here are 6 things to focus on - all being gentle on the body but will have a positive impact.
🌿 Focus on your foundations
Before jumping into intense workouts, take time to learn how to breathe, align, and engage your core properly. This alone can change how your whole body feels.
🚶♀️ Walk with awareness
Instead of just getting steps in, notice how you walk — posture, stride, and how your feet land. Small tweaks can reduce strain on your hips and lower back.
🧘♀️ Slow your movement down
Rushing = compensating. Slowing down helps your body engage the right muscles and build real strength.
🧘♀️ Prioritise recovery
Tight muscles and fatigue often lead to pain. Add in stretching or rest days to support your body properly.
💛 Do something your future body will thank you for
Whether that’s starting Pilates, improving posture, or finally addressing that niggling back pain — now is the time.
