Last month, Ann-Marie had the privilege of being invited into a local primary school to speak to the Primary 7 pupils.
She shared her journey from surviving a brain tumour and being homeschooled to building a successful business from the ground up.
She spoke honestly about the challenges she faced and the lessons that shaped who she is today.
The pupils heard about resilience, hard work, self-belief, and how setbacks can become opportunities to learn, grow, and keep moving forward.
Ann-Marie also spoke about how she went back to collage as a mature student to gain her GCSE’s allowing her to complete her HND Level 5 and her teaching qualifications, showing that learning and personal development can continue at every stage of life.
Watching Ann-Marie’s journey has inspired me too, giving me the confidence to return to education and continue studying myself. Since then, I have completed my Level 3 qualification in Facial Electrics and Lesion Screening and I am continuing to develop my skills and knowledge within the skin industry.
We hope the pupils left knowing they don't need to have everything figured out right now. With determination, a willingness to learn, and the courage to persevere, they can achieve far more than they might imagine.
It was a pleasure to meet such a fantastic group of young people, and we hope Ann-Marie's story inspired a few future entrepreneurs to follow their dreams and believe in themselves.

These lesions had been present on our client’s forehead for years gradually becoming more raised, more visible, and a growing concern cosmetically.
Before any treatment, we followed our strict clinical protocol and had the lesions professionally assessed by our consultant dermatologist to ensure they were safe and suitable for removal.
Once confirmed, we treated them using ACP (Advanced Cosmetic Procedures) diathermy — a precise method that works by thermally cauterising the lesion, allowing it to dry, lift, and naturally shed.
What you’re seeing here:
• Before – multiple raised, pigmented seborrhoeic keratosis
• Dermoscopy – classic benign features confirming diagnosis
• Immediate post-treatment – controlled coagulation response
• 8 weeks after – smooth, clear skin with excellent healing

𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫?
A client recently attended ETERNAL Advanced Skin & Blemish Clinic for a facial treatment.
As part of every appointment, I carefully assess the skin for any changes or irregularities to help guide the safest and most appropriate treatment plan.
During the consultation, I identified an irregular lesion on the client’s nose that I was not comfortable treating cosmetically due to its appearance. I advised the client that it required further investigation and recommended urgent dermatology review.
The lesion was subsequently assessed by Dr Finbar's Skin Clinic where the working diagnosis returned as Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC).
Following assessment, the client was promptly referred for surgical treatment. From initial assessment to dermatology review and surgical removal, the entire process was completed within just three weeks.
Unfortunately, NHS waiting times can often be lengthy, which is why I always encourage clients to have any suspicious lesion checked as early as possible. Early detection and early intervention can make a significant difference.
This serves as an important reminder that skin lesions should never simply be assumed harmless; they should always be professionally assessed.
🚩 𝐑𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐝:
• A lesion that does not heal
• Bleeding, crusting or recurrent scabbing
• Changes in size, shape or colour
• A shiny, pearly or translucent appearance
• Persistent redness or irritation
• An area that becomes sore, itchy or tender
• Anything new that simply “doesn’t look right”

• Dermoscopic assessment of the lesion
• Following surgical removal
• Healing outcome 8 weeks later
Following surgery, the client attended ETERNAL for regular Dermalux LED light therapy sessions to help support healing and skin recovery.

Finally getting around to sharing this on Facebook, last month Ann-Marie and myself had the privilege of meeting one of our biggest inspirations in skin science, Dr Des Fernandes.
Not only did we get to meet him, but Ann-Marie stepped well outside her comfort zone and asked if she could interview him and thankfully he said yes!
Dr Des is the founder of Environ Skincare, the pioneer of modern microneedling, and one of the first doctors in the world to introduce Vitamin A and antioxidants into skincare long before the industry truly understood their importance.
In an industry often driven by trends and constantly changing advice, Dr Des has spent more than 40 years focused on real skin science, research, and skin health.
During the event, we had the opportunity to listen to him speak, and Ann-Marie got a private interview with him, here she was able to ask a few questions and gain insight from someone who has helped shape the professional skincare industry worldwide.
I’ll be sharing a short interview with him very soon, where he explains some of the key principles behind skin health, Vitamin A, and long-term skin function.
