The season is turning: hedgerows glow gold, the harvest is gathered, and the balance of light and darkness lets us to pause, reflect and be thankful 🪶

Today is the Autumn Equinox—a moment of near-equal day and night before darkness begins to claim more of the sky.

For our ancestors, this was a season of gathering, preserving and giving thanks for the abundance of the land.

The final sheaf of corn held a special place in folklore. Known as the Corn Dolly, Corn Mother or Harvest Maiden, it was woven and kept through winter as a symbol of the harvest spirit and the promise of new growth.

Have you ever wanted to learn a little more about using herbs at home?

The Herbalist’s Table is a monthly seasonal herbal medicine-making circle with me, Emily, a qualified Medical Herbalist.

We’ll look at the plants, traditional uses, modern herbal knowledge and simple preparations you can make at home.

Our first gathering is all about Fire C***r, a warming herbal preparation made with ingredients including garlic, ginger, horseradish, herbs, citrus and spices.

You’ll make your own jar to take home, while learning about the ingredients and how they can be used in your home herbalism practice.

Back to school means routines are starting again, the weather is changing and there always seems to be a few more coughs and sniffles doing the rounds.

I have just 2 bottles of my Elderberry Syrup left from this small batch:

Made with elderberries, orange, ginger and warming spices including cinnamon, star anise, cardamom and cloves.

A lovely seasonal addition to the kitchen cupboard, whether you enjoy it by the spoonful or add a little to a warm drink.

Once these two bottles are gone, I’ll start a waitlist for the next batch.

🌿 The Herbalist Table 🌿

Join myself a Medical Herbalist for a monthly seasonal herbal medicine-making circle for anyone who wants to learn more about plants and bring a little more herbalism into everyday life.

For our first gathering, we’ll be exploring autumn herbs and herbal support as we move towards the colder months.

We’ll learn about the plants, traditional uses and simple ways to work with them, then get hands-on making seasonal herbal preparations to take home.

No previous herbal experience is needed. Just come curious and ready to learn.

Each month will follow the season, so what we explore and make will change throughout the year. We’ll also have occasional foraging excursions and opportunities to get outside and learn about the plants around us.
