This is one of my favourite parts of teaching beginners.

They can walk in looking at the mannequin thinking, how on earth am I going to do this on an actual person?

So we build it.

I demonstrate. They practise. I watch. We correct things. They try again.

And then we move onto a live model.

That’s when everything they’ve been learning starts to connect.

Are they a fully confident lash artist by 3pm? Of course not. That comes with practice, case studies and feedback afterwards.

But they’ve gone from never doing it before → completing their first real set.

And that little “I actually did it” moment never gets old.

Apparently I’ve got a new member of the marketing team 😂

I asked my son why someone should train in lashes & brows with me… and honestly, I probably should just let him run the academy from now on.

Jokes aside, I love that he’s grown up watching this.

He’s seen the clients, the students, the training days, the late nights, the wins and probably far too many conversations about lashes and brows 😂

And underneath all of that is something I’m really proud of,creating a place where women can come in knowing absolutely nothing about lashes or brows and leave with the foundations to build a skill that’s completely their own.

I’ll let him do the selling today though. 🤍

I’ve been doing a bit of a deep dive into my business lately.

Not the glamorous kind where you buy a new notebook and write “Q4 GOALS” at the top

The uncomfortable kind.

What actually makes money?
What takes too much of my time?
Where are enquiries coming from?
Where aren’t they coming from?
Do I need more clients or more capacity?
What should I still be doing myself?

I’ve run this business for 11years, so I know how to run a beauty business.

But knowing your business and being willing to question your business are two different things.

I’m not interested in being busier for the sake of looking successful.

I want to build the next version properly.

So that’s what I’m doing.

And I’ll probably share a bit more of what I find along the way.

First day properly back today and apparently we’re starting with the glamorous side of running a Lash & Brow Academy… stock take.

I’ve been pretty quiet on here over the summer. Trying to run a business, be present with my little boy and keep everything moving behind the scenes is a juggle I’m sure a lot of you know very well.

But September feels different.

I’m back, I’ve got ideas, and there are a few things I really want to change and grow before the end of this year.

So… back to building, being and growing not just my business but myself too.

Getting qualified is the easy part.
