Guys here is a little life update from your amazing hairdresser🤣 i have felt like the last few months i haven’t had time to think 💭

Controversial opinion… i am going to say it🤣😱

A sentence i hear thrown about way to much…
“I am a blonde SPECIALIST”🤣

Okay! So why are we bleaching hair with 9%? Why are we overlapping?
Why are we relying on a toner to fix your work?
Why are you not sending our clients away with a strict aftercare program?
Why are you relying on root taps to hide your bleed marks?
Why are you not breaking the base at the basin?
Why are you not saying no! To people who have damaged hair! Instead of helping them get it healthy to get there dream hair?

Okay i think i been a bit tough… now let’s educate 👂
• client who has bleached her hair herself! Yes you heard that… bleached her hair herself!
Did it work… clearly not!
•hair was not damaged but was infact a risk for me to fix!
Plan of action:
1. Strand test, patch test
2.Remove any unwanted salts or any unwanted chemicals… i can do a post on explaining how i do so if needs be!
3. Strict aftercare routine
4. Come back to HAIRBYRUBY
5. Metal detox whole hair!
6. Thin accurate weaves using 3% bleach
7. Do back first wait for it to lift… wash out
8. Then when washed out… do the front again 3%
9. Toner for any previous unwanted tones NOT to fix my work to help even out the blonde!
10… a beautiful blowdry👏🏽

Now that is how you help the issue that was created but also maintain it to a health condition!
This client is now looking after her hair and can keep up having her blonde maintained!!

Also this client did come to me with over-processed roots! So i was not lifting them! That’s why the ends are slightly warmer than the roots!
I don’t want to fry her hair off i just want her to have an even healthy blonde look;)

LADIES NOTICE:

So as you all can see on the weather tomorrow hits 34degrees!!🔥

I have got blonde clients in tomorrow and i am going to judge to see if it is to bloody hot to be putting lightener on your hair.

Lightener expands in heat and can cause the foils to bleed and means i wouldn’t be able to carry out a proper professional blonde service. Like i said i will judge it tomorrow!

I don’t want to disappoint but i also do not want to cause hair to fry off nor the foils to swell and overheat!

🚨 LADIES, LET’S TALK HAIR! 🚨

Right, Dr. HairByRubes is here to break something down for you! 👩‍🔬✨

If your hair has been heavily bleached for years, adding lowlights and toner is NOT always going to work straight away!

“But surely it’s easy?” 🤔

Well… not exactly.

When we bleach hair, we have to break through something called ✨disulphide bonds✨. This is what allows the hair to lighten, but it’s also where damage and breakage come from.

Let’s be honest if you bleach your hair, some level of damage WILL happen. It’s not a case of “if”… it’s a case of “when” and “how much.” 🤣

Now imagine this…

🧽 Take a brand-new sponge.
🧽 Then take a sponge that’s missing chunks, full of holes, and falling apart.

Which one is going to absorb water better?

The new one, of course! 🙌

Your hair works in a very similar way.

If you’ve been bleaching your hair every 6–8 weeks for the last 5–6 years, your hair structure has changed dramatically. So when you decide you want lowlights from a level 9/10 blonde down to a level 6, your hair may struggle to hold onto that colour.

Why? 👇

✨ POROSITY ✨

The way hair absorbs and retains colour depends heavily on its porosity and overall condition.

Hair that has been repeatedly bleached becomes highly porous and uneven. This means colour can:
❌ Grab too dark
❌ Fade quickly
❌ Turn patchy
❌ Wash out much faster than expected

So when your hairdresser says it might take multiple appointments to achieve your goal, they’re not trying to make life difficult they’re respecting your hair’s journey and protecting its condition. 💛

Remember:

👉 Someone who has only had bleach a couple of times and gets lowlights every 10–12 weeks will usually retain colour much better.

👉 Someone who has been heavily bleached every 6–8 weeks for years may find their colour fades much quicker and requires more maintenance.

Hair isn’t just about what we want it to look like today it’s about the history of what it’s been through. 💇‍♀️✨
