ADHD, Clutter & Organisation 💚

ADHD support isn’t about advice, strategies or telling someone what they should be doing.

Sometimes it’s much simpler than that.

It’s having someone alongside you who gets why that seemingly tiny task has been sitting on your list for 6 months.

Someone who can take away some of the decision-making, gently bring you back when your brain wanders off and help you get started when your brain is saying absolutely not.

No judgement. No shame. No lectures.

Just practical, understanding support from someone who gets ADHD.

Because sometimes, it’s the little things that make the biggest difference…

Here are some of the things we do 👉

Imagine coming home from work to THIS…💚

Yesterday Vicki and I spent the day in a client’s home in Wakefield while they were at work - and we got stuck in!

Here’s what we managed to get done:

• Washing hung up
• Laundry put away
• Ironing folded and put in a labelled basket ready for their ironing service
• Wardrobe tidied
• Kitchen cupboards reset and organised
• Out-of-date food removed
• Dishwasher emptied
• Playroom tidied and ready for a sleepover
• Lounge reset
• Recycling removed
• Hallway reset and tidied
• Delivery received and signed for

And then we left them with a lovely, calm and ordered home to come back to.

Everything has a place. Things are organised and labelled. The cupboards make sense.

Which means those everyday routines are just that little bit easier.

No coming home from work and immediately seeing a list of jobs that need doing.

Instead, you can walk through the door and enjoy your home.

We can work in your home while you’re at work, out for the day or simply getting on with life. We’ll quietly get on with what needs doing, working with your systems, your belongings and the way you use your home.

And, as always, all of our sessions are completely confidential. We only ever take or share photos with our client’s explicit permission.

A calm, organised home - ready for you to enjoy.

We cover the whole of Yorkshire 🏡 💚

Got 10 minutes? That’s enough to declutter something 💫

If you have ADHD, “sort the kitchen” can feel like a massive, undefined task.

So don’t.

Pick ONE small thing. Set a timer for 10 minutes. Stop when it goes off. ⏱️

Try one of these:

1. Chipped cups

2. Out-of-date sauces in the fridge

3. Takeaway menus

4. Recipe books you never look at

5. Containers without lids

6. Appliances you haven’t used for 12+ months

7. Broken utensils

8. Empty jam jars

9. Paperwork that can be recycled

10. Out-of-date medication

11. Empty cereal packets

12. Seasonal crockery that seemed like a good purchase at the time…

13. Children’s plates & cutlery they’ve outgrown

14. Tatty doormats

15. Excess medication syringes

16. Toast racks you never use

17. Empty foil packaging

18. Dead batteries

19. Leaky water bottles

20. Stained table runners

And remember: you don’t need to declutter everything.

You just need to make one decision and take one small action.

Ten minutes. One category. Done.

Go for it 💚

ADHD & Clutter: It’s not laziness – Here’s why it feels so hard

ADHD + clutter = a complicated relationship.

You know what needs doing.

You want to sort it.

So why does it feel so difficult?

✨ Decision fatigue.
✨ Time blindness.
✨ Out of sight, out of mind.
✨ Getting overwhelmed.
✨ Starting but not finishing.
✨ And the dreaded messy middle.

It’s not laziness.

It’s not because you don’t care.

And you’re definitely not the only one.

As October is ADHD Awareness Month, I’ve written a blog about why clutter can be particularly challenging when you have ADHD and what can actually help.

Because you don’t need to be harder on yourself.

You need systems that work with your brain, not against it.

I love to know if it reasonates with you 💚

Super reason to declutter those ties no longer worn 💚

No longer have use for those ties hanging in your wardrobe? Please consider donating them to Shipley Library for our upcoming Jobs Fair, November 11.
Just pop them in at the front desk for the attention of Andrea Hardaker and YOU could help someone back into the workplace.

🍁 20 things to declutter before October - and yes, you’ve still got time!

Before you pack the summer things away and get the autumn stuff out, have a quick look at these.

You might be surprised how many things you’re keeping simply because they’ve been there for a while.

1. Old sun cream

2. Swimwear that doesn’t fit

3. Broken sunglasses

4. Summer dresses you don’t feel good in

5. Pool inflatables with holes

6. More beach towels than you actually need

7. Uncomfortable flip flops

8. Water bottles no one has used

9. Outdoor toys the children have grown out of

10. Chipped or broken plant pots

11. Outdoor cushions that have seen better days

12. Autumn wreaths you haven’t used in years

13. Hats, scarves and gloves that no longer fit

14. Winter coats the children have outgrown

15. Tatty indoor throws

16. Letters and school paperwork from the last school year

17. Old lunch boxes

18. Anything you’re putting in the loft because you don’t know what else to do with it

19. The ice cream maker you haven’t used all summer

20. Books you’ve read and know you won’t read again

And you don’t need to do all 20.

Pick one.

Because decluttering doesn’t have to be a massive weekend job where the whole house looks worse before it looks better.

Sometimes it’s just making one decision about one thing.

Keep it. Donate it. Bin it.

And then move on 💫

You’ve still got time before October. And honestly, your future self will definitely thank you for it.

Love Caroline 💚
