Something I’ve been thinking about lately, and I think it’s an important conversation to have!

With AI becoming such a huge part of social media, it’s getting harder to distinguish between what’s real and what’s been digitally created.

From flawless skin to perfectly styled hair, we’re seeing more and more images that simply don’t reflect what’s realistically achievable.

As a Bridal Hair & Makeup Artist, I LOVE when my brides bring inspiration photos to their trials. They’re a great way to understand your vision! But there’s a difference between using an image for inspiration and expecting an exact replica of something that may not even be real.

Every face, skin type and hair texture is different, and that’s what makes our jobs so special. It’s about creating a look that works for YOU, not trying to make everyone look the same. ✨

My worry is that these images are creating unrealistic expectations for clients and putting genuine professionals in a position where their work is being compared to digitally perfected results.

There’s so much training, time, skill and experience behind what we do, and that deserves to be recognised.

So, next time you save a beauty image for inspiration, take a moment to consider whether it’s a genuine result. Look at real client photos, tagged posts and unedited content, and remember that real beauty doesn’t have to mean perfect. 🤍

AI can be a great tool, but we need to understand where inspiration ends and unrealistic expectations begin.
