The sympathetic nervous system prepares your body for action, especially in stressful or dangerous situations. It's like your body's "emergency response system." When you're scared, stressed, or excited, the sympathetic nervous system kicks in, making your heart beat faster, increasing your breathing rate, and sending more blood to your muscles so you're ready to "fight" or "flee" (run away).
The parasympathetic nervous system helps your body relax and recover after the danger has passed. It's like your body's "calm down and restore system." After the stressful situation is over, the parasympathetic nervous system slows down your heart rate, decreases your breathing rate, and helps your body digest food and conserve energy.
These two systems work together to keep your body balanced, ready for action when needed, and able to relax and heal afterward.

Breathwork is more than just breathing; itβs a key to unlocking greater health, relaxation, and happiness!
Detoxification: Did you know that 70% of toxins are released through proper breathing? By practicing mindful, deep breathing, you help your body efficiently eliminate waste and toxins, contributing to overall health.
Stress Relief: When you are afraid, stressed, or nervous, your breathing pattern changes, becoming shallow and rapid. Breathwork helps you release this tension, calming your nervous system and restoring a sense of peace.
Mood Enhancement: Breathing deeply and mindfully can elevate your mood by increasing the production of pleasure-inducing chemicals, such as endorphins and serotonin. This natural boost can help you feel more positive, energized, and balanced.

My teachings this week involve looking at the food we put in to out body. A health body helps to create a healthy state of mind. Although this is not always easy in today's busy busy world, it only takes a moment to appreciate the food in front of you and extend gratitude to the farmers, workers, nature, and even the hands that prepared the meal β€οΈ

Breathwork practices can be categorized into different types based on their effects on the body and mind:
πͺ Strong/Activating
βοΈ Balancing
π Calming
π Cleansing
Hereβs an explanation of each type:
πͺ Strong/Activating Breathwork energises and invigorates the body and mind. Increases heart rate, stimulates the nervous system, and boosts alertness and focus. Ideal for starting the day, preparing for physical activity, or when needing a burst of energy.
βοΈ Balancing Breathwork harmonises the body and mind, creating equilibrium. Balances the nervous system, stabilizes emotions, and aligns the left and right hemispheres of the brain. Beneficial when feeling scattered or ungrounded, or to centre oneself before meditation or yoga practice.
π Calming Breathwork soothes the nervous system and promotes relaxation, reduces stress, lowers heart rate, and induces a state of calm and tranquillity. Ideal for winding down after a long day, before sleep, or during stressful situations.
π Cleansing Breathwork detoxifies the body and clear the respiratory system, removes toxins, clears the lungs, and refreshes the mind and body. Useful for cleansing the body, especially after illness, during detox, or when feeling sluggish.

Smiling is a simple yet powerful tool that can improve both your mental and physical health.
BENEFITS OF SMILING:
π Smiling triggers the release of dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins, which are natural mood lifters. Even if you're not feeling happy, the act of smiling can lead to a genuine improvement in mood!
π Helps to reduce stress by lowering your heart rate and decreasing levels of cortisol, the stress hormone.
π Smiling can boost your immune system by helping your body to relax. Relaxation contributes to better immune function, making you more resistant to illnesses.
π Studies have shown that people who smile more tend to live longer.
π The endorphins released when you smile act as natural painkillers.
π Smiling can help shift your mindset towards positivity, making you more optimistic
π Smiling and laughing can lead to a reduction in blood pressure.
π Smiling is contagious. When you smile, it often prompts others to smile as well, spreading positivity in your environment.
So, make it a habit to smile and shine more often π
