When HD8 Life met G27 Hair & Beauty& G27 Barbering...

We had the absolute pleasure of spending a morning in Emley with Matt and the amazing team at G27 Hair & Beauty - and what a story they have to tell!

As we’re discovering more and more across the HD8 area, the G27 story is so much more than just scissors and styling. It’s about transformation, teamwork, and a real love for the local community.

Matt’s journey is pretty inspiring: from professional footballer to salon owner, he swapped boots for barbershop tools as his playing career came to an end. He retrained as a barber and now runs G27 side-by-side with his wife Nicola, who keeps everything running like clockwork behind the scenes.

G27 has been a fixture in Emley for over 11 years, offering everything from haircuts to beauty treatments in a friendly, welcoming space. There's a hard-working, fun-loving vibe with lots of loyal clients - some travelling from afar, some popping in from across the street.

And if you’ve ever wondered what “G27” stands for, we had to ask! “G” is for their surname, and “27” was Matt’s football squad number. Mystery solved!

Matt shared how much he loves being part of the HD8 community, especially with so many brilliant spots nearby to eat, drink, and unwind.
