Did you spot the flash of blood in the needle? 🩸💉

This is called a positive aspiration, an important safety check that can help reduce the risk of injecting filler into a blood vessel.

Choosing an experienced injector is about more than the product used. Skill, training, clinical judgement, and a thorough understanding of facial anatomy all play a vital role in delivering safe treatment.

So, what is aspiration?

Before injecting filler, I gently pull back on the syringe plunger. If blood appears in the syringe, it indicates the needle is inside a blood vessel, an area where filler should never be placed.

If this occurs, I stop immediately, remove the needle, reassess the area, reposition, and aspirate again before proceeding only when it’s safe.

Every treatment I perform is guided by client safety, precision, and evidence-based practice. While injection techniques can vary between practitioners, my priority is always to minimise risk and provide the safest possible care. There are no short cuts when it comes to your safety, I aspirate down to the very last injection as in this case.
