‼️IMPORTANT STATEMENT‼️

Following the announcement of my plans to expand City Barbers, I have received a number of unpleasant and hostile messages from individuals I do not know and have never met.

It appears that some people would rather cling to their own narratives than review the clear, detailed, and legally substantiated account outlining how I obtained the lease at Fairways.

Rather than fully informing themselves, they have chosen to spread potentially harmful misinformation online and by mouth.

To protect myself (Alana), my business—City Barbers—and the nine barbers who work for me, I am sharing a concise version of the facts.

In early January 2026, after learning that some businesses would not be returning to the Fairways unit following the fire in March of the previous year, I contacted the landlord to register my interest in taking a unit for barbering purposes only, and ONLY if Hair for Men were not returning.

Towards the end of January, the building owner informed me that the LEASE HOLDER of HFM had chosen not to renew their lease, for reasons that were not disclosed to me, and the lease was then offered to me. I have been seeking to expand City Barbers for some time, and this presented an ideal opportunity. This is all of the information I was provided, as the building owner is legally bound not to share anything further due to data protection laws.

As previously mentioned, I have received some deeply unpleasant messages attacking both my reputation and my business. Normally, I would not be concerned by such opinions, but in this instance, I feel compelled to clarify the truth, so that anyone interested in the facts has the opportunity to learn them before making unfounded accusations.

I have been wrongly accused of ‘stealing’ a business, which is both absurd and utterly impossible. Furthermore, I have been accused of attempting to poach staff from another barber shop in Inverness, simply because I extended an offer to the previous staff of HFM to return and work at Fairways which they would have done if the lease was renewed by the LEGALLY APPOINTED LEASE HOLDER — albeit under a new name.

Even though the FACTS are now available I'm under no illusion that people will still have their own opinion, as is their right, however, this is the truth and no amount of threatening or vile messages will deter me from proceeding as I have done nothing wrong.
