I spent the morning with Imogen and the girls at the family estate. Blessed to be able to spend the morning with such lovely people and forever lucky to call this my job.

The brief was either a half up style or sleek back elegant bun. Naturally Makaila’s hair is long, thick and doesn’t hold a curl, instantly my recommendation was sleek.

Ladies think of the long term goal, you want a style to be photographed all day and stay looking neat. If your hair doesn’t natural have a wave/curl we can’t force it, no amount of product will magic those big soft waves and keep them in place all day. Gravity is a bitch!!

To avoid us feeling like the worst humans ever trampling on your expectation be open to a plan b if we need to. If you’ve lived your life with a hair type make sure your bridal hair will work with this. Book in for a pre wedding consultation and we can make a plan going forward.

Face behind the name.

Behind the scenes as I embark on salon no 2 I look back at the last 40 years and really have to pinch myself. Hairdressing was never my chosen career, infact I was 24 when I decided to take the leap but had I been able to speak to my 16 year old self I would have told her to do it far sooner. We got there in the end. I have sacrificed every weekend for the last 16 years, the 4/5am alarms, missing family or friend gatherings often scrambling there last minute when we’ve rushed home to get ready. We fly by the seat of our pants, socialising and family time are often non existent but that being said the sacrifice these last years has moulded the future I have today.

I was sent this lovely image from a photographer I recently worked with on a shoot through and it made me smile, I’m grateful for the amazing opportunities this career has given me, doors opened through years of hard work. I feel content doing something I truly enjoy (even the 5am alarms on a Saturday)

To the amazing clients I have met along the way, thank you for moulding me into what I am. I’ve lost count of the amount of brides I have met and remain friends with some. I guess today is a pinch me day.
